When they first hit the underground scene, the Pixies were like an exotic drink that hid its sweetness behind a ferocious bite. The album's production is like a crude explosion: every strum and clang comes down with the subtlety of a sledgehammer. English and Spanish lyrics collide as singer Black Francis (later Frank Black) shouts in a hoarse monotone and Mrs. John Murphy (later Kim Deal of the Breeders) backs him up with throaty wails. Room 29 is the long-awaited collaboration between two musical forces: Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker and indie polymath Chilly Gonzales. Doolittle is the second studio album from the American alternative rock band Pixies, released in April 1989 on 4AD. The album's offbeat and dark subject material, featuring references to surrealism, Biblical violence, torture and death, contrasts with the clean production sound achieved by the newly hired producer Gil Norton. Doolittle was the Pixies' first international release, with Elektra Records as the album's distributor in the United States and PolyGram in Canada.

BadBadNotGood is a Canadian instrumental music group from Toronto. The group was founded by bassist Chester Hansen, keyboardist Matthew Tavares, and drummer Alexander Sowinski in 2010. In 2016, they were joined by saxophonist Leland Whitty, a frequent collaborator.
