《阴道独白》共有十八个片段，叙述形式以独白为主。其中还可再分为口述实录风格的独白、混声形式的访谈集锦；混声里有时是作家和被采访者对话的形式，有时是多人话音的穿插。在多数独白之前，有作家的说明——描述创作意念的形成、交代人物的背景、把故事献给某一位或某一组妇女。
