Alexandra Drewchin, known professionally as Eartheater, is an American multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer and vocalist. Born in North East, Pennsylvania, she is currently based in Queens, New York, and has been performing since 2009. Her music has been released on Hausu Mountain and PAN.

Toronto’s Nathan Micay first rose to prominence under the alias Bwana, where he released everything from of-the-moment post-dubstep like 2011’s “Baby, Let Me Finish” to anthemic progressive house tracks like 2014’s “Flute Dreams”, gradually leading to more ambitious, concept-driven releases like the Akira-inspired 2016 mini-album Capsule’s Pride. But it was with last year’s “First Casualty” that Micay’s work took on a new dimension. Tellingly released under his own name, “First Casualty” was a euphoric, melodic club record that became an underground anthem, sitting somewhere between progressive house, trance, and techno, but ultimately just sounded like – well, like Nathan Micay.

Musique Pour La Danse is proud to present Coil's unreleased soundtrack for the VHS only, pre-internet, sexual education documentary entitled "The Gay Man's Guide To Safer Sex" released in 1992. Members for this project are John Balance, Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson and Danny Hyde.
The OST, to quote John Balance's interview for Compulsion Online, "is [a] slightly new agey, progressive house type thing".
Another way to approach it is as a delightful collection of balearic beats, smoking jazz not far removed from Badalamenti's work with David Lynch, somewhat of an ambient house album for your home listening and early morning sunrise dances, Coil style.
Taken from the original masters provided by Danny Hyde, "The Gay Man's Guide To Safer Sex" features a new sexy edit of the main theme. Bonuses "Nasa-Arab" and "Omlagus Garfungiloops" are taken from the 1992 CD only "Stolen And Contaminated Songs", both being original versions of the radically reworked (for the OST) "Nasa-Arab 2" and "Exploding Frogs" in order to balance the whole album and extend the listening pleasure.

In San Francisco ontmoette Alex Callier jaren geleden een taxichauffeur die in de sixties tot 'president of the LSD Golf Club' benoemd was, omdat hij karrenvrachten acid slikte voor hij loos ging op een poepchic golfterrein.
Die psychedelische sfeer laat zich ook voelen op Hooverphonics zesde plaat. Daarop belijdt Alex Callier meer dan ooit zijn liefde for all things sixties. In de dwingende single 'Expedition Impossible' bijvoorbeeld, waarin een Doorsorgeltje en Geike Arnaert een glansrol delen. Maar ook de caleidoscopische ballad 'Black Marble Tiles' of het hippieachtige duet '50 Watt' ademen een psychedelische sfeer uit. Om het sixties-plaatje perfect te maken nam de groep alle songs analoog op, in één take.
Dat had duidelijk invloed op het bekende geluid: Hooverphonic legt de bombast van vroeger naast zich neer (al hoor je zowaar een klavecimbel in 'The Eclipse Song') en de band klinkt minder strak dan op vorige platen.
Toch blijven er genoeg aanknopingspunten. Het prachtige 'Gentle Storm' en 'Billie' zijn in essentie très Hooverphonic, net als de opener 'Stranger', die wel erg doet denken aan 'Nirvana Blue' (van de Jackie Cane-plaat).
