Library Voices is a eight piece pop collective from Regina, Saskatchewan. Blending tremolo soaked guitars with analog synths, vintage organs, circuit bent electronics, accordion, saxophone, strings, theremin, Tenori-on, and glockenspiel, their songs play out like an AM radio jingle; mixing the best of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and today.
Text : 袁智聰 Post Date : 2010-08-09 Dead Can Dance兩位成員分道揚鑣已有十多年(雖然他們曾在2005年作復合巡演),對比起跑到去荷里活電影配樂界發展的Lisa Gerrard,我還是喜歡作風低調的Brendan Perry多一點。 Brendan Perry的低調程度,是Dead Can Dance解散了十多年,迄今他才出版過兩張個人專輯而已,此外他也沒有甚麼別的音樂Project;Brendan的首張個人專輯《Eye Of The Hunter》在1999年秋天面世,相隔差不多十一年後,他才施施然地帶來他的第二張個人專輯《Ark》,多麼的慢工出細活。然而這次已不再是4AD廠牌的出品了。 當年《Eye Of The Hunter》叫我聽得愛不釋手,是這張Folk-Blues Based的專輯那份黯然神傷的滄涼與寂寥情感,勾勒出怦然心動的幽美詩意。多年來我對Brendan此個人作品仍是那麼回味不已。 由Brendan獨力包辦所有音樂製作與演奏、不借外求,《Ark》與前作《Eye Of The Hunter》的最主要分別,是今次Brendan乃古樸不再,反之在曲風上他卻開始電氣化起來。 開場曲〈Babylon〉的扣人心弦電影感管弦樂、Brendan孤寂的縈繞心頭主唱,甚至古琴琴音的出場、中段的中東管樂獨奏、民族敲擊的切入,毋庸置疑這仍是相當之Dead Can Dance風格的一曲。 再聽下去,可以發覺今次Brendan的歌曲來得節奏感豐富了,所說已不獨是種種民族音樂節奏,而是他開始代入了摩登的 Electronica節奏程式。比方說〈The Bogus Man〉在慘白的氛圍下就有如讓Massive Attack在《Protection》時的Trip Hop節拍與隨後中東敲擊節拍絲絲入扣而來,〈Wintersun〉、〈Utopia〉的電音節拍豈可歸納為Hip House呢?〈The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea〉從奇麗的電音氛圍到Downtempo節奏更猶如希臘電子大師Vangelis與紐約鬼才Moby聯袂為他伴奏般;誠然,Brendan對電音節拍的捕捉仍停留在90年代的曲風,然而聽到他筆下萬般觸動心靈的歌曲,感覺卻又是如斯的不落俗套,像〈Utopia〉的懾人心魄弦樂到古樸的 Harpsichord琴音,各位Dead Can Dance定可以照單全收。 〈Inferno〉所營造出神秘深邃的黑暗孤絕之美,彷彿身處一所靜謐的幽暗斗室內,還要有一段E-Bow結他獨奏,撲朔迷離,然後卻由 Downtempo節拍與弦樂劃破。碟末的〈Crescent〉那古意盎然的琴音、民族節奏、中東音樂弦樂,Brendan再次回到Dead Can Dance的音樂原型,可謂與〈Babylon〉為之首尾呼應。
Lars Nesheim Vaular (born September 20 1984) is a rapper, and songwriter from Åsane, Bergen, Norway. He started rapping in 2003. He has worked with Tungtvann, Side Brok, Jan Eggum, Fjorden Baby!, and John Olav Nilsen & Gjengen. Vaular debuted as a solo artist with the album La Hat - Et nytt dagslys... in 2007. He previous released songs under the duo Tier’n og Lars. His second album D'e glede was released on May 4, 2009. His third album Helt om natten, helt om dagen was released on May 3, 2010, the first with national distribution and promotion. In 2009, he had three singles and was nominated for Spellemannprisen in 2009 in hip-hop for his album D'e glede. Lars Vaular is the cousin of Sondre Lerche.
Goldspot frontman Siddhartha Khosla continues his love affair with Bolllywood as he re-imagines an Indian film classic as Today's Top Tune it's called "Ina Mina Dika." Goldspot’s Ina Mina Dika is a reworking of the cult classic Bollywood song originally made famous in the 1950’s by Asha Bosle and Kishore Kumar. This most recent arrangement was created by Goldspot for the soundtrack to the film Today’s Special written by and starring Aasif Mandvi from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Aasif also appears in the video.
This is debut Olly Murs' self-titled album. The release follows the outstanding success of his debut single "Please Don’t Let Me Go" which reached number one in September 2010, and was a bonafide sales and airplay smash. Olly’s "Thinking Of Me" was co-written by Olly, with Steve Robson and Wayne Hector. Olly co-wrote most of the album with a host of collaborators, from Chris Difford (Squeeze) to Eg White and Trevor Horn.
Cloud Control are a 4 piece originally hailing from the Blue Mountains, just outside ofSydney. They sew a wide palette of influences together to create a truly original tapestry of aural delight. Harmonnius Psych Pop, Country, Folk & Soul is only scraping the surface to describe the sound of this truly unique band. 'Bliss Release' their debut album was recorded and produced by Liam Judson of Belles Will Ring fame. It has already spawned the incredibly successful single 'Gold Canary' being hailed as 'one of the best Australian singles of the year' by tastemakers Mess & Noise. Cloud Control will be touring nationally from May 13 - June 19.
