《语言与文化(注释本)》是语言学大师罗常培先生撰写的一本探索语言与文化关系的小书，被认为是中国文化语言学的开山之作，《语言与文化(注释本)》最初由北京大学出版部于1950年出版，全书八章，涉及语言与文化的各个方面，如从借字看文化的接触，从亲属称谓看婚姻制度，从地名看民族迁徙等等。
《语言与文化》一书是罗常培先生20世纪三四十年代的重要研究成果。罗先生于1938年辗转抵达昆明西南联合大学后，便利用云南少数民族多的条件，开展民族语言调查。自己调查，组织学生调查，取得了丰硕的成果，《语言与文化》一书附录四《语言学在云南》所列41项成果中，有17项是罗先生自己调查的。1944年至1948年，罗先生借在美国几所大学讲学之机，也收集相关的资料，做类似的调查。
《语言与文化》一书写于半个多世纪前，1950年由北京大学出版部出版。1989年语文出版社出版了经汪大年先生根据作者保存的夹有好几位先生签注意见的本子做过整理的重印版；2004年北京出版社出版了据《罗常培文集》第五卷核校稿排印的新本，《文集》本曾据1989年本核校。

《语言研究》是一本专为语言学初学者编写的入门教材。全书共分二十一章。作者以科学、客观的态度把人类关于语言的研究做了一番详细、全面的介绍，几乎涉及语言研究的所有领域。有些领域甚至分得非常细，如构词法和形态学专辟两章，语法和句法专辟两章，语用学和话语分析也分两章介绍。全书的语言朴实易懂，没有用新奇的术语唬人。为便于读者学习，每章还配有许多思考题和习题。
该书介绍的语言研究涵盖传统语言学（如语言文字学、历史语言学）和现代西方语言学诸领域。但是作者不以流派分章节，重在介绍现代语言学，兼顾传统语言学；既注重知识的系统性，又顾及到内容的趣味性。例如，作者在论述语言的属性之后意犹未尽，又辟一章举数例说明人和动物之间在交际和学习语言方面的根本差异：灵长目动物黑猩猩虽然能理解一些极基本的符号，但是它们的交际能力与人类的语言能力不可同日而语。

本書是「漢語語言學之父」趙元任幾十年研究的成果，是既完整又有系統的一部描寫中國話文法的書。全書內容不僅適合於國語，大部分也適用於整個中國的方言，甚至連文言也有一部分可以包括在內。書中所舉的例子極為詳盡，而又生動活潑，文筆在清晰中常帶幽默，雖然討論文法，卻能使讀者不感到枯燥。
作者在理論上大致採用結構學的直接成分階層法，或稱詞組結構語法。用轉換衍生語法或格變語法理論研究國語文法的著作，沒有不以這本書為重要根據。本書由丁邦新博士就原書對照兩種舊譯稿，殫精竭慮重譯而成，譯文可讀性甚高。

《语言问题》是赵元任教授的演讲记录。全书十六讲，系统地讲述了语言学以及与语言学有关系的各项基本问题，是作者的重要著作之一。作者为此版写了《新版序》。

全书共分十二篇，第一篇概括地述说修辞现象和修辞学的全貌。指出修辞现象有消极和积极两大分野，又指出修辞所可利用的语言文字的可能性和修辞所须适合的题旨和情境。第二篇述说修辞所可利用的语言文字的可能性。第三篇述说消极和积极两大修辞分野的互相区别和互相联系。第四篇述说消极修辞的一般情况。第五篇到第九篇都是述说积极修辞，其中第五到第八篇述说积极修辞中的辞格，第九篇述说积极修辞中的辞趣。第十篇述说修辞现象随种种不同情况而变化，以及它的统一的线索。第十一篇述说语文的种种体式，特别详述了体性方面的体式。第十二篇结语，述说修辞学的变迁，发展，并指出研究修辞学应有的努力。
初版是1932年，分上下两册，由大江书铺在上海先后印行。以后再版重印过多次，作者也不断地有所修改。这次重印，由复旦大学语言研究室根据作者生前修订的一九六二年本和一九七五年本参照校订，并作了个别文字上的修正。
