A Hundred Million Suns is the fifth album by alternative rock band Snow Patrol. 第一段便是专辑的前四首歌,这四首纯粹的民谣充分回归到了Gone Drifting 7这张EP的风格."Not True, Devil Girl"做为开场,吉他的伴奏甚至有浓厚的乡土气息.这张专辑多是短小精悍的歌曲,这首歌便是如此,只有2分多钟.在一段很长的吉他solo收尾结束后,悠悠扬扬地引出了"Out On A Limb".这是一首有些悲凉的抒情小品,浅浅的吟唱随性而不加修饰.tiger lou的声线在这样纯粹的民谣歌曲中明显饱满了很多,带着很重的鼻音,不再那么干涩.接着便是同名歌曲"Second Time Around"了,这首歌稍微夹杂了些美国西部的情调,调子开始变得活泼起来,可tiger的唱腔却越加沉稳了,或者可以说,是鼻音更加重了."You can't say no to me"是第一个段落的最后一首,也是爆发前的沉寂.同第二首"Out On A Limb"一样,也是慢板的抒情小品,也是这张中我最喜欢的两首歌曲.这4首歌是导致我喜欢这张专辑的最大原因.这样的歌曲,这样的嗓音,虽然恬淡无比,其实却分外摇曳.
奇妙的第二段的打头"Born in the USA",无论是风格还是歌名都让我觉得这首歌不该属于tiger lou.而确实,这次的主角换成了一个有着尖利嗓音的不知名的女人,tiger只是作了和声.这首歌的节奏是很典型的punk,那个女人的腔调也像极了yeah yeah yeahs.两分半钟的全曲,酣畅淋漓,但接下来的感觉却突然峰回路转."Take Me To The Water",这首歌搬出了tiger lou之前一直没有用过的钢琴作为唯一的伴奏,只是在歌曲的中段反复吟唱了几句"take me to the water",歌曲的结束无声无息.就好似经历了一晚"Born in the USA"的忘情疯狂后,在凌晨刚破晓时却回到了冷冰冰的现实世界.我的脑海里有这样一副场景:tiger lou离开了那个女人,和那个曾经喧闹的房间,就如歌名一般,走到湖边,被一团团灰蒙蒙的晨雾包围,眼神呆滞,神情淡漠.
我相信这是一张有着故事情节的奇妙的专辑.
