秩父、ある夏の日。
自宅でテレビゲームに夢中になっている、引きこもりの高校生・宿海仁太（村上虹郎）の前に、忘れたい、でも忘れたことなんて一度も無かった少女が突然現れた。
「ねぇ、じんたん！」
懐かしいあだ名を呼ぶ少女は幼なじみの本間芽衣子（浜辺美波）。あり得ない。だって、彼女は…“めんま”は、あの夏の日に死んでしまったはず…。
でも認めないわけにはいかない。“めんま”は、あの夏の日と同じ白いワンピース姿で、ちょっと成長した姿で、幽霊として仁太の前に現れたのだ。
“めんま”によれば、生きている時にやり残した願いがあり、心残りで幽霊として戻ってきた、と言うのだ。しかし肝心な願いの内容は覚えていないらしい。
混乱する仁太は、取りあえず買い物に街に出る。すると、またしても意外な人物と巡り会う。

芽衣子と同じく幼なじみの久川鉄道（高畑裕太）だ。仁太の頭に去来する7年前の風景－「超平和バスターズ」の幼なじみ6人組。何でも平和にするからと仁太が考案した名前。リーダーだった仁太。そして、“めんま”の事故死をきっかけに決裂した「超平和バスターズ」の絆－
昔はみんなの弟分だった“ぽっぽ”は、すっかり成長し、今は高校に行かず世界中を旅行している。そして、日本にいる時は、昔「超平和バスターズ」が秘密基地として使っていた小屋に住んでいると言う。面影残る、無邪気な笑顔。仁太は、“めんま”が幽霊として現れたことを“ぽっぽ”に相談する。
与太話と言われるかと思いきや、“ぽっぽ”は仁太の話を信じる。そして「超平和バスターズ」のみんなで“めんま”の願いを叶えてあげよう、と言う。
“ぽっぽ”の呼びかけで、久しぶりに「超平和バスターズ」の幼なじみたちが集まった。昔から怜悧（れいり）で秀才タイプ、今は地元一番の進学校に通っている“ゆきあつ”こと、松雪集（志尊淳）、昔は引っ込み思案だったが高校デビューして今はすっかりギャルになった“あなる”こと、安城鳴子（松井愛莉）。しっかり者でみんなのまとめ役、今は“ゆきあつ”と同じ学校に通う“つるこ”こと、鶴見知利子（飯豊まりえ）。そして“ぽっぽ”、“じんたん”、“じんたん”の隣で柔らかい笑顔でたたずむ“めんま”の6人。
久しぶりの再会を喜ぶ“めんま”。対照的に、気まずい空気が流れる“ゆきあつ”“あなる”“つるこ”。そして仁太は、気付く。“めんま”が見えるのは自分だけだということに－。
