北京时间5月21日上午(美国当地时间5月20日)，据国外媒体的报道，《美国偶像》第八季决赛在洛杉矶诺基亚剧院落下帷幕。来自阿肯色州的23岁大学生 Kris Allen 凭借选票优势爆冷，战胜此前一直被评委看好的 Adam Lambert，摘走本季冠军。不过本届冠军争霸赛虽精彩纷呈，却备受争议。
获得亚军的 Adam Lambert 现年27岁，从比赛伊始就展现出惊人的实力，这位舞台剧出身的歌手音域宽广，现场表演感染力十足，被专业人士盛赞为《美国偶像》历史上实力最强的一位，而本届评委 Randy Jackson、 Simon Cowell 和 Paula Abdul 此前都预言他将最终登顶。
