The transition from goth rock to full-on synth pop has been a long time coming for Kimball. Sally Dige is a multidisciplinary artist known for her darkly poetic yet highly danceable electro-pop songs, DIY stylistic videos, design and visual art.
Sally‘s deep and commanding voice, coupled with her analogue-visual-processes and overlapping artistic mediums has formed an identity that oscillates between the edges of aggression and fragility, old and new.
Holding On was created during the time of intense inner turmoil. Despite being stretched to her emotional limits, Sally did not let the weight of her circumstances break her, instead channeling all of her pain and fears into the production of a series of incredibly powerful songs.
Stunningly, Sally used only her voice and a single synth to create this album. Even with so little gear, the songs are anything but minimal. Each song has a minimum of 100 tracks and, for some songs, 100 tracks for just the drum section alone. Every audible sound has 20 other sounds swimming beneath it.
These are songs written for dance floors but are sung about loneliness, death and the meaninglessness of existence. Sally‘s work tows the line between a blissful innocence and a heavy darkness. Think Gina X flavored post punk-disco rubbing against Twitch-era Ministry‘s lost Sade collab or Enya on LSD after a break up.
Holding On is Sally‘s second album, following her debut Hard to Please, out on Avant! in Europe and DKA in North America, with two separate cover designs.

When С крыш наших домов (S Krysh Nashikh Domov), the debut album by Molchat Doma, was released in 2017, it announced a bold new voice in underground music. The album found a passionate audience on Bandcamp and other streaming services and was released on CD and cassette. Sacred Bones Records is proud to present the album on vinyl for the first time.
Molchat Doma (translated as “Houses Are Silent”), founded in 2017 in Minsk, Belarus, stands at the intersection of post-punk, new-wave and synth-pop. Dark yet danceable, and with a heavy dose of goth ethos, their music is reminiscent of the masters that predate them, but make no mistake: Molchat Doma creates a sound and meaning that is immediately recognizable as all their own.
The band is comprised of Egor Shkutko, who sings the Russian lyrics in his deep monotone, Roman Komogortsev on guitar, synths, and drum machine, and Pavel Kozlov on bass and synths.

Monument is a fitting title for the third album by Belarusian trio Molchat Doma. Indeed, it stands as a monument to everything they’ve achieved in their short time as a band, from whispered-about unknowns, to enigmatic underground icons, to legitimate viral sensations with hundreds of thousands of TikTok videos using their music. Monument sees them return as conquering heroes, expanding on the minimalist greatness of S Krysh Nashikh Domov and Etazhi to fully realize a more maximalist vision of their crystalline post-punk sound.
Written and recorded while the band was quarantined in their hometown of Minsk during the COVID-19 pandemic, Monument is a conscious step up in songwriting and fidelity, and it reveals a band preternaturally comfortable in its own skin. Whether playing to the dancefloor, as they do on the synthpop anthem “Discoteque,” or working more introspectively on pre-pandemic live favorites “Otveta Net” and “Ne Smeshno,” Molchat Doma are in complete control. Their greatest strength has always been their songwriting, and they’ve only gotten better.
As the band’s arrangements have grown more sophisticated, so too have the sounds they use to bring them to life. Roman Komogortsev and Pavel Kozlov’s gear arsenal has grown to include an extensive range of synthesizers and drum machines, all of which they deploy with precision. Egor Shkutko’s vocals move fluidly between his familiar deadpan monotone and an expressive croon, his beautifully delivered Russian lyrics at turns bleak and romantic. Shkutko has often been compared to Ian Curtis, but here, he outgrows the comparison.
With Monument, Molchat Doma have done one of the hardest things to do as a band. They’ve greatly expanded the scope of their music while retaining everything that made them great in the first place.

Lindsey French started her latest record in New York and finished it in Richmond, Virginia, under tragic circumstances. She returned to her hometown because her sister was murdered, and there's a mood shift from laidback to vulnerable about halfway through the EP. In both modes Bad Baby is an arresting blend of contemporary dance music and wistful indie pop that takes the featherweight trance of French's older work and moulds it into melancholic songcraft.
Vocals are central to French's music. On "Bad Baby" and "Infin Path" she uses wordless sighs to give her chord progressions a certain lilt, while "Infin Path," the EP's best song, is a breakbeat head rush that recalls Opus III's "It's A Fine Day." The jaunty house of "Bad Baby" is no slouch either, and it comes with an aching chorus that gets stuck in your head. The "Club Mix" is an alternate take that transforms it into a Radio 1-style banger with a hummable bassline and deft vocal chopping.
It's with "You Weren't There Anymore," which juxtaposes a pillowy Balearic feel with an emo-inspired vocal, that the EP takes a wistful turn. "Skydiver" is almost somber with its soft-focus synth organs, while the stark and elegant "My Innocence" ends the EP with gilded arpeggios and raw screaming that strains French's vocal cords. The influence of rock music—French namechecked artists like Weezer and Blink-182 in a recent interview—makes her music feel particularly fresh. She approaches dance music from an angle that feels more honest than trendy, putting the emphasis on emotion over rhythm. An EP that carries more weight than its breezy feel might first imply, Bad Baby is weightier than it might first appear, and an example of how dance music can help people through tough times.

The French psych rockers’ send-up of mythic American road trip fantasies is undeniably fun, even if the humor and hooks don’t approach anything like real insight.
