Computer World (German: Computerwelt) is the eighth studio album by German electronic band Kraftwerk, released on 10 May 1981. The album deals with the themes of the rise of computers within society. In keeping with the album's concept, Kraftwerk showcased their music on an ambitious world tour.

Kraftwerk (German: [ˈkʁaftvɛɐ̯k], lit. "power station") is a German band formed in Düsseldorf in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider. Widely considered as innovators and pioneers of electronic music, they were among the first successful acts to popularize the genre. The group began as part of West Germany's experimental krautrock scene in the early 1970s before fully embracing electronic instrumentation, including synthesizers, drum machines, and vocoders.

毋庸置疑，德国电子音乐教父Kraftwerk影响力无远弗届，地位德高望重，所以多年来不乏各异其趣地向他们致敬的专辑。作为一名资深Kraftwerk迷，我对他们的致敬唱片一直以来都抱以甚高要求，绝不会甚么也照单全收。至少是作致敬之餘亦要不乏詮释者的创意。
比方如当年The Balanescu Quartet以现代古典弦乐四重奏阐释其作品的Possessed专辑，Senor Coconut以拉丁音乐曲风阐释其作品的El Baile Aleman专辑，日本方面出版的Musique Non Stop合辑，一眾南斯拉夫乐手带来的Trans-Slovenia Express，都是我心目中甚具水準质素而别树一帜的Kraftwerk致敬唱片，乐迷所津津乐道的「创意致敬」。至於那些甚么Trancewerk Express之流的合辑，绝对听不入耳，连收藏价值也没有(所以老早已卖掉了)。
2007年，一张名为8-Bit Operators的Kraftwerk致敬合辑面世。
没错，形式上这是另一个交由一眾电音单位改编Kraftwerk作品的Project，而不是把Kraftwerk的歌曲破格地詮释成后摇滚或迷幻民歌或车房朋克。然而参与这张致敬合辑的，全是当今欧洲的Chiptune系或Bitpop系或8-Bit系电音製作人──那是一群以Lo-Bit电脑技术进行音乐製作、作品听似电子游戏音乐的电音单位。
由这群Chiptune / Bitpop / 8-Bit製作人玩奏Kraftwerk的作品，正得以将这队电子先锋乐团的歌曲更加「打机化」。作为一队Electro-Pop先锋，这张致敬专辑其实都几Back-to-basics。
Lo-Bit态度
8-Bit Operators的副题，是「以古老8-Bit电子游戏系统演奏Kraftwerk作品」。
正所谓物极必反，当今天的电脑音乐製作软件，可以为音乐赋予不受羈绊之空间的时候，有人却喜欢开倒车，採用原始的电脑科技製作音乐，视Lo-Bit为一种电音态度。
所谓的8-Bit，泛指八十年代中期电视游戏机普及的时代。而这眾当今的8-Bit电音製作单位，都是「打机」长大的一代，对电子游戏机音乐有著一种情意结。他们对Lo-Bit科技的追崇，甚至不惜採用古旧的个人电脑如Commodore 64，抑或以一部Gameboy作为演奏工具，成为这群互联网世代Chiptune / Bitpop製作人的特色。

电玩音乐
由这群Chiptune / Bitpop音乐单位向Kraftwerk致敬，也别有一番意义。
Kraftwerk是最早将Bleeps电声作为音乐之一部分的电子乐团，开拓了这种电子音乐的美学。来到其1981年划时代专辑Computer World时，像Computer World、Pocket Calculator、Home Computer、It's More Fun To Compute等歌曲，都来得儼如电视游戏音乐般。
所以在Kraftwerk的履历上，在「Electro-Pop之父」、「Techno之父」的美誉以外，也该要加上「Chiptune之父」、「Bitpop之父」的名衔吧。

听8-Bit Operators内的曲目，都好比为Kraftwerk的作品进行还原基本步。
像由瑞士製作人Bacalac操刀的The Robots(但又跟作Double A-Side单曲发行的8-Bit版不同)，纽约Lo-Bit先锋Glomag操刀的Double A-Side单曲之二Pocket Calculator(十二吋内却是由Glomag任Mixing的8-Bit Operator群星Mega-Mix版)，德国8-Bit之音代表人物firestARTer操刀的Computer World，伦敦製作人Receptors操刀的Trans-Europe Express，纽约女製作人Bubbly Fish操刀的It's More Fun To Compute，皆是极具电子游戏音乐气息的詮释。
甚至维也纳製作人Herbert Weixelbaum重玩他们来自73年专辑Ralf & Florian的曲目Tanzmusik，古老Beatbox节拍加流丽琴音，更似十足雅达利电子游戏配乐般简约、跳脱而流丽。而柏林製作人Oliver Wittchow玩另一取自Ralf & Florian的作品Kristallo，竟酷似Y.M.O.的经典「电玩音乐」Computer Game啊。
各施各法
Nullsleep詮释出的The Model不再浪漫美妙，而换上骯脏拆声的电子音质；8-Bit掌门人8-Bit Weapon玩的Spacelab，电声横流，绝对听出耳油。所听到是每个音乐单位在各施各法。
更具趣味性，是瑞典製作单位Role Model在重型的电子低音与节拍，以一把犹如Nico般凄美嗓音唱出的Showroom Dummies，末段歌曲的Synth主奏琴音由流水行云而变成宛如Giorgio Moroder的电影配乐般；伦敦製作人David E. Sugar主理的Radioactivity，竟变成Disco-Funk非常(大可跟Daft Punk的作品Mix在一起)；纽约组合Bit Shifter玩Antenna来得跳脱而浩浩荡荡，鬼马幽默的手法好比日本组合电气Groove的Techno-Pop流行曲；而来自伦敦的gwEm Aand Counter Reset带来的The Man Machine，更大玩Electro Hip Hop，有MC那种。
这不独是一张Kraftwerk致敬唱片，也是一张别具代表性的Chiptune 与Bitpop精英合辑。

Tour de France Soundtracks (renamed to Tour de France for its remastered release) is the tenth studio album by German electronic music band Kraftwerk. It was first released on 4 August 2003, through Kling Klang and EMI in Europe and Astralwerks in North America. The album was recorded for the 100th anniversary of the first Tour de France bicycle race, although it missed its intended release date for the actual tour. It includes a new recording of their 1983 song of the same name, the cover artwork of both releases being nearly identical. The announcement of the release caused much anticipation, as it had been 17 years since the group had put out a full album of new studio material (1986's Electric Café, also known as Techno Pop).
The album received positive reviews from critics and was a commercial success. It reached No.1 in Germany, the top 40 in the UK, as well as No.3 in the US dance charts.
