Chic (/ʃiːk/ SHEEK), currently called Nile Rodgers & Chic, is an American band that was organized during 1976 by guitarist Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards. It recorded many commercially successful disco songs, including "Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)" (1977), "Everybody Dance" (1977), "Le Freak" (1978), "I Want Your Love" (1978), "Good Times" (1979), and "My Forbidden Lover" (1979). The group regarded themselves as a rock band for the disco movement "that made good on hippie peace, love and freedom". In 2017, Chic was nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the eleventh time.

Reissue of the legendary soul vocalist's top 20 & platinum 1980 album for the Philadelphia International featuring the hit singles 'Love T.K.O.' & 'Can't We Try', the latter of which was also featured in the 1980 film 'Roadie' starring Meat Loaf. Stephanie Mills & Ralph MacDonald both guest on the album. 11 tracks total, also including 'Where Did All The Lovin' Go?', 'It's You I Love' & 'Shout And Scream' added as bonus tracks not on the 1993 U.S. reissue. 1999 Westside release.

情色的主题显得不够伟大，但是Slow Jams的风格给日后10年的R&B的发展以很好的蓝本。另外，此张专辑也是Quiet Storm曲风的鼻祖。Smokey Robinson1975年的Quiet Storm正是受了Let's Get It On唱腔的启发。

首张EP《侥幸号》请到了香港著名爵士吉他手/音乐制作人David Tong担当制作，对原本的编曲进行了一些细化和升华，录音在广州独立音乐圈闻名遐迩的Royal City Studio完成，然后送到诞生过无数经典唱片的英国传奇录音棚Abbey Road Studios进行混音，最后母带处理则是由美国顶级母带工作室Sterling Sound的著名母带师Greg Calbi负责（John Lennon、David Bowie、Bob Dylan、Bill Frisell、John Mayer等著名音乐人的御用母带师），其中单曲《Blue Walker》更荣幸邀请到美国殿堂级的吉他大师Robben Ford合作。
风格上受到Blues的影响，同时又融合了一些Funk、Soul、Rock甚至些许Jazz元素而变得更富有现代都市气息，而你现在需要做的是跟随脚的信号抖动，仅此而已。

After a strong start at the beginning of the 1980s, the S.O.S. Band quickly hit that rut which is so sadly common among young bands needing a second shot of gold and, by 1983, they were teetering on the edge of an oncoming oblivion. It is to their ever-lasting credit that not only were they able to pull out of the nosedive, they did it with such aplomb that On the Rise could easily have been retitled Back on Top. Teaming with hot writing/production team of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, a completely revitalized S.O.S. Band found themselves firmly on the top of the charts and in the public eye. Hip, slick, and full of dance tricks, the band infused On the Rise with enough '80s synth sounds to break through in the clubs, while keeping their funk roots intact. Energized throughout, the set hardly slows down for a moment. From "For Your Love" and the stellar second side opener, "I'm Not Runnin'," to the Motown soul stylings of "Who's Making Love," the S.O.S. Band proved they still had their moves. The album spun two songs into the top of the RB charts -- "Tell Me If You Still Care" reached number five, while the showstopping "Just Be Good to Me" dropped in at number two, not only becoming one of 1983's defining songs, but also returning the band to the spotlight in 1991, when the English house band Beats International revisited the grooves across their smash "Dub Be Good to Me." On the Rise is the sound of a band finding their feet again -- and knowing what to do with them once they'd found them.

"Juice" is a song recorded by American singer and rapper Lizzo. It was released on January 4, 2019 as a single by Atlantic Records. It is expected to be included on her upcoming third studio album, Cuz I Love You. The single was written by Lizzo, Theron Thomas, and Ricky Reed; the latter also handled the song's production. Musically, it is a retro-inspired funk, rap, and funk-pop song that is based on a throwback groove. Lyrically, the song discusses self-love, and has been described as a self-esteem anthem.

After decades of influencing everyone from jazz musicians to hip-hop stars, Pieces of a Man set a standard for vocal artistry and political awareness that few musicians will ever match. Scott-Heron's unique proto-rap style influenced a generation of hip-hop artists, and nowhere is his style more powerful than on the classic "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised." Even though the media -- the very entity attacked in this song -- has used, reused, and recontextualized the song and its title so many times, its message is so strong that it has become almost impossible to co-opt. Musically, the track created a formula that modern hip-hop would follow for years to come: bare-bones arrangements featuring pounding basslines and stripped-down drumbeats. Although the song features plenty of outdated references to everything from Spiro Agnew and Jim Webb to The Beverly Hillbillies, the force of Scott-Heron's well-directed anger makes the song timeless. More than just a spoken word poet, Scott-Heron was also a uniquely gifted vocalist. On tracks like the reflective "I Think I'll Call It Morning" and the title track, Scott-Heron's voice is complemented perfectly by the soulful keyboards of Brian Jackson. On "Lady Day and John Coltrane," he not only celebrates jazz legends of the past in his words but in his vocal performance, one that is filled with enough soul and innovation to make Coltrane and Billie Holiday nod their heads in approval. More than three decades after its release, Pieces of a Man is just as -- if not more -- powerful and influential today as it was the day it was released.
