Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous is the only album released by American hip hop artist Big L in his lifetime, released March 28, 1995 on Columbia Records. Recording sessions took place primarily at Powerplay Studios in Queens, New York from 1993 to 1994. Production was handled by Buckwild, Craig Boogie, Lord Finesse, and Showbiz. After being discovered by Lord Finesse in 1990, Big L signed a deal with Columbia Records, and he started to work on the album.
The album debuted at number 149 on the US Billboard 200 and number 22 on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, but did not chart internationally. Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous spawned three singles: "Put It On", "M.V.P.", and "No Endz, No Skinz", the first two both peaked within the top 25 on the US Hot Rap Tracks and Hot Dance Singles Sales. Upon its release, the album received positive reviews from music critics, earning praise for Big L's lyrics and word play. Lifestylez Of Da Poor And Dangerous is considered by many fans as a classic album. As of August 2000, the album has sold 200,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Dubbed sometimes as a kind of Mobb Deep meets NWA type group, Custom Made drops their sophomore follow up to 2004's LA State of Mind on their new home at Babygrande Records! The West Coast collective formed in 2003 and since releasing their first album lost one of their original members Sinister Six, but pushed on with their highly sought after mixtape series Street Cinema, which Babygrande also eventually put out in a "Best Of" release. The meeting of two West Coast rappers fuelled this talented Canadian band. In 1996, Mad Child was a solo artist performing in San Francisco when he returned to his hometown of Vancouver. There he met Prevail, who was gaining attention for his energetic live shows and abilities. The two joined forces and headed to San Diego to perform at the annual B-Boy Summit. The group was initiated into the Rock Steady Crew, one of only three bands to do so. Following this, the group released three independent singles before releasing Balance, their debut effort in 1999 on Battle Axe Records. A world tour and hundreds of performances followed. In 2001, the band released its second album, Bad Dreams. The same year they received a Juno Award for Best Rap Recording for Balance. In 2002, the band performed with Nelly Furtado and won a second Juno Award for Best Rap Recording. Monsters in the Closet followed in 2003, and Heavy appeared in 2004. Their music has been featured on soundtracks, computer games, and other outlets. Theyve also worked with members of the Beat Junkies and Jurassic 5, among others.
