It was announced and released as a free streamable album on August 30, 2015, following the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards for which Cyrus served as host. A music video for "Dooo It!" was released after its live debut at the aforementioned award show, which featured a similar scene to the one portrayed in the album cover.
