Heathen Atmospheric Folk ... Die meisten der dargebotenen Songs sind reine Instrumentalstücke, die Natur pur atmen, etwas, was man an einem Herbstmorgen vor Sonnenaufgang auf weiten Feldern in der Nähe von Wäldern atmen kann, eine leicht neblige, aber enorm erfrischende, angenehme Luft, irgendwo muss sich eine Feuchtwiese befinden, vielleicht sogar ein Bachlauf, und wenn man denn schon mit seinem MP3-Player Technik in diese Umgebung tragen muss, dann bitte mit der Musik von SVAFNIR drauf. Die Musik klingt exakt genau so, wie das Cover aussieht, erdig, verwurzelt, wie Bäume, die von zarten Nebelstreifen umringt werden, sehr fantasievoll ausgemalt allein mit akkustischen Gitarren, von wenigen Momenten einer ihrer Kraft wegen bemühten E-Gitarre, deren Klang aber ebenso natürlich ist wie das Vogelzwitschern, das ihr folgt. ... Eine Ausnahme zu den übrigen Songs stellen "The Blackbird's Flight" dar, das 'Akkustik-Parts' auf einer E-Gitarre als Grundlage aufweist, was einen interessanten Höreffekt hat, und die beiden Songs "Nothing Left" und "Death of the Sun", die mit Gastvocals von Simon Graff dargeboten werden, und dem wohl markantesten Unterschied, es sind tatsächlich 'Rock-Songs', man könnte sie sogar dem Metal zuordnen, sofern man freigeistig genug ist, dies trotz fast konsequenter Abstinenz von E-Gitarren so zu nennen. Es gibt zwar welche, die Hauptarbeit des Songs leisten aber Akkustikgitarren. Ebenfalls komplett aus dem Rahmen fällt "A Druid's Cosmic Journey", das Synthi-basiert ist und auch von Raison d'etre stammen könnte, sehr abgespaced und ein wenig 'krachig' inszeniert, aber wenn kosmische Reisen einen Klang haben, könnte es dieser sein.... Nifelvind was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Finland and mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios. The album cover artwork was done again by the band's own guitarist Skrymer.

Maybe it's wrong to call Thyrfing a unique band, but their musical evolution and progression, still with their roots in mind, has given the band a wide amount of fans all over the world. Thyrfing plays their Metal with a northern touch alongside their folk- and symphonic influences, and they are counted among the finest of their genre. The band was formed in the beginning of 1995, and after two demo-tapes Hammerheart Records picked them up in 1997. Their first self-titled album, produced by Tomas Skogsberg at well-known Sunlight Studio, saw the light of day in March 1998. The press agreed upon that the album was maybe not a masterpiece, but a warning for what to come. Thyrfing was a band with potential. Exactly one year after the debut, "Valdr Galga" was released. This time recorded at Abyss Studio and produced by Tommy Tagtgren. The album received amazing reviews everywhere and 1999 turned out to be one of the most successful periods of the band. Thyrfing played at Dynamo Open Air, followed by a three-week tour with Six Feet Under, Vader, Enslaved, Cryptopsy and Nile. For this tour Hammerheart released Thyrfing's two demos on a limited CD called "Hednaland". In the beginning of 2005 the band decided to sign a deal with a new label, namely Regain Records from Sweden, and during the summer the fifth album "Farsotstider" ("Times of Plague") was recorded (as well as a successful appearance at Sweden Rock Festival). "Farsotstider" was mainly recorded at Cosmos Studio in Stockholm with producer Henrik Edenhed (Lambretta, Kent) and is another impressive chapter in the Thyrfing saga. For the first time the lyrics are entirely in Swedish and the album truly shows the band as it's best. So lean back, and enjoy another strong release from Thyrfing! REGAIN RECORDS .2006

2006年发行的《With Oden on our side》是目前为止乐队的最后一张专辑，这张公认的2006年全佳金属专辑之一。经过十八年的磨砺，Amon Amarth已完全成长为一支成熟、大气、令人激动的维京团。
