Monrose is an all-female pop–R&B trio from Germany, formed in 2006 on the fifth installment of the German version of the international television talent show Popstars. The band consists of Mandy Capristo, Senna Guemmour, and Bahar Kızıl.
Under the motto "Neue Engel braucht das Land" ("The country needs new angels") Popstars returned with a fifth installement in August 2006, this time searching for the legal successors of the show's first and most successful formation, the No Angels. More than 5,100 hopeful female singers attended open television auditions in Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Hanover, Munich and Dortmund, conducted by choreographer Detlef "D!" Soost, producer Dieter Falk and singer Nina Hagen. Over the course of several recalls and re-recalls the three judges reduced the contestants to a group of 20 who immediately travelled to Ischgl, Tyrol to get trained in singing, dancing, and fitness. In the end eleven girls remained who again moved into a mansion in Pullach, Munich to start working on their performance and publicity skills. While Soost, Falk, and Hagen continued eliminating one or two girls each week, the six remaining finalists went on with the recordings of alternative versions of their debut album Temptation and the shoot for their first single "Shame". A number of internationally known record producers including Popstars judge Dieter Falk, Toni Cottura, Marc Mozart, and producer-duo Tim Hawes/Pete Kirtley from the UK were involved in the making of this album.

Australian pop duo Savage Garden formed in Brisbane at the end of 1996, their name inspired by fantasy author Anne Rice's term for the savage and isolated world of vampires. Within nine months of formation they had attained two domestic hit singles ("I Want You" and "Halfway To The Moon"). This achievement came without the benefit of any live performances or even promotional interviews. Their sudden popularity became a global phenomenon when "I Want You", officially the biggest-selling Australian single of 1996, became an international bestseller later in the year.
The duo, singer Darren Hayes and multi-instrumentalist Englishman Daniel Jones, met while playing in bar bands in Queensland in 1994. However, they elected to form a band more suited to their personal tastes - an amalgamation of influences including XTC and Peter Gabriel. A demo was sent to veteran manager John Woodruff (associated with Australian success stories including the Angels, Baby Animals and Diesel). He immediately signed them to his JDM record label.
Their self-titled debut album was recorded in Sydney in June 1996, with Hoodoo Gurus and Air Supply producer Charles Fischer at the helm. "I Want You" climbed to US number 4 in May 1997, and they enjoyed a huge transatlantic hit during the early months of 1998 with "Truly Madly Deeply", the single topping the US charts and spending several weeks in the UK Top 10. On the back of their singles success, Savage Garden rose to number 3 on the US album chart in April. The follow-up single, "To The Moon And Back", peaked at US number 24 in August 1998, but climbed to number 3 in the UK chart. The song had originally stalled at number 55 in February. The duo's follow-up, Affirmation, was recorded in the luxurious studios of San Francisco, and included the huge US chart-topper, "I Knew I Loved You".

Sarah Connor (born Sarah Marianne Corina Lewe; June 13, 1980) is a German singer and songwriter. Raised in Delmenhorst, she became part of a church choir at the age of six. Connor rose to prominence after she signed with X-Cell Records in 2000 and released her debut album Green Eyed Soul (2001) the following year. She followed it with a series of successful albums, including Unbelievable (2002), Key to My Soul (2003), Naughty but Nice (2005), Christmas in My Heart (2005), Soulicious (2007), Sexy as Hell (2008) and Real Love (2010). Several songs from these albums became hit singles on the pop record charts, including the number-one hits "From Sarah with Love", "Music is the Key", "Just One Last Dance", "Living to Love You" and "From Zero to Hero". The Weepies，一只由Deb Talan和Steve Tannen组成的流行民谣二重奏。两人初次相遇是在Tannen的波士顿音乐会上。在此之前，两人都已各自发表过自己的作品（Deb Talan发行过3张，Steve Tannen发行过2张）。二人相互钦佩，很快就一起开始了创作歌曲，并且Weepies很快诞生了。2004年，他们独立发布了8只歌的EP“Happiness”，并且在二年后签约Nettwerk厂牌。2005年12月，The Weepies在此厂牌录制完成全新专辑“Say I Am You”，并于2006年3月正式发行。

《Spin心灵节奏》是Savage Garden野人花园主唱Darren Hayes戴伦海斯的首张个人专辑。过去一年来，戴伦将所有的时间花在灌录这张专辑上，在前年十二月野人花园的《Affirmation认定》专辑南非巡回演唱之前，他已经写了六个月的歌。至于这张个人专辑是野人花园乐风的自然延伸，还是一种与以往截然不同的风格呢？戴伦认为是前者，他说：“我认为是野人花园音乐的自然延伸，而《Spin心灵节奏》这张专辑最令我引以为傲的是，它很像许多我成长时以及现在仍在听的唱片。所以灵魂音乐和Marvin Gaye的影响一定存在，也能感觉到那些教会我唱歌的艺人团体在影响我，但除此之外，你也能听到Basement Jaxx、Daft Punk、Madonna和节奏蓝调音乐的影响。这是一张非常现代的流行专辑。” 他接着说：“这张专辑有我的旋律、我的歌词和我的幽默感。我认为之前喜欢野人花园和我们的抒情风格，以及肯定我的歌声的人会喜欢新专辑，但我觉得除了这些之外，新专辑包含的更多。”

《Spin心灵节奏》呈现出戴伦在词曲创作、制作和演唱上的成熟与进步，但录制个人专辑和团体专辑对他来说是很不一样的经历。他说：“刚开始录这张个人专辑时我很害怕，因为我很习惯我的伙伴丹尼尔在身边，之前写歌时都是和他一起写。做这张个人专辑时，我面临的问题是如何且为何做一张唱片。我不想做一张听起来就像野人花园专辑的唱片，所以我必须搞清单飞的自己该是什么模样。于是我开始回去听小时候爱听的唱片，我发现曾经和Madonna等人合作的Rick Knowles也制作了我很喜欢的Dido的专辑，我便打电话给他，我希望能和自己崇拜的人合作。录完专辑的那天，我突然强烈地感觉到这是我自己的专辑，对照以前是两个人的合作、对话和声音。”

除了Rick Knowles之外，戴伦在《Spin心灵节奏》中也和其他词曲创作者合作写歌。他说：“最开始我是和Rick Knowles一起写歌，我很爱他帮Madonna写的歌，Madonna的"Ray of Light"专辑里很多歌都是他俩一起写的。他刚出道时，帮Stevie Nicks和Belinda Carlisle等女歌手写歌，但真正让我惊讶的是他帮Madonna写的歌。所以我和Rick写的歌是整张专辑的灵魂和重点，这些歌非常简单，有点受约翰蓝侬的启发，因为他都用吉他为根基来写歌。後来我和较不知名的词曲创作者Greg Beak合作，我和他一起写了很多首节奏蓝调的歌，包括Strange Relationship和I Miss You，还有一些未正式收录在专辑中。”
“还有一个还没被签的团叫做Specificus，我和团里的Robert Connelly一起写歌。虽然他做的是和我迥然不同的电子乐风，但琢磨他这个青涩的才子是一个挑战。所以我总共和四个人一起合作写歌，制作人则只有一个。” 虽然和多名音乐人合作，终究《Spin心灵节奏》是戴伦的首张个人专辑，他有没有因此而备受压力呢？答案竟然是否定的，戴伦说：“老实说，我反而觉得很自由，彷佛自己是一个全新的歌手，我再度感到十八岁时那种渴望成功且想要拿到一纸唱片合约的感觉。这张个人专辑改变了我，这点很重要，因为它让我再度振奋起来。我想不管野人花园有没有解散，我们都不会做第三张专辑，因为我们对自己的音乐感到厌烦。我们无法彼此启发，我们需要听听别人的唱片，并和别人合作才能重新获得灵感。对我来说，我的唱片已经卖得够多了。我想的不是赚钱或拿排行榜冠军，而是想演唱并谈论自己的唱片，我真的做了一张自己听不腻的专辑，而且能骄傲地拿给朋友听，这是我的人生目标。所以目前我并没有感到压力，而是觉得很兴奋。”
戴伦认为，首支单曲"Insatiable 爱,永远都不够"是他这辈子听过最浪漫的歌，这首歌令他想起电影《红磨坊》或性感的老式好莱坞爱情故事。戴伦说：“Walter和我坐在一起，他想出节奏，而我突然想出非常有节奏感的旋律，当时歌词还没出来，但我就是知道这是一首有关欲望的歌，而且这首歌一定会红。写这首歌的过程是我这辈子发生过最奇妙的事，我好爱这首歌，这是我写过的歌中，我最爱的其中一首。这首歌又性感又狂野，同时听起来又很舒服，加上一个四十人的大乐团伴奏，你听了一定会想跳舞。我以这首歌为傲。” 至于和专辑同名单曲的"Spin"是怎么来的？戴伦说：“专辑名称的由来很有趣，因为写歌过程中，我一直写到spin这个字，包含这个字的词或这个概念一直出现在每首歌中。後来有点变成游戏，我想看看自己能在歌里面用几次这个字眼。可是三十五首歌后，这个游戏就玩腻了。但写到最後，我写出"Spin"这首歌。”
“我知道自己想写一张有关乐观以及承认在这世上生存不容易的专辑。这世上有战争，有现在仍无法治愈的疾病如爱滋病。虽然有这麽多问题，但音乐、我和音乐的关系、我和我的听众的关系，以及买唱片和听演唱会都是欢愉的，对我来说甚至是精神粮食。或许藉由三分三十秒的歌，我能让你快乐一下，我们可以暂时忘掉忧伤。”
提到专辑的第一首歌"Strange Relationship"，戴伦说：“这首歌证明了我听了很多TLC和很多节奏蓝调团体，我看了自己的旧唱片收藏，从Michael Jackson的Off The Wall到Stevie Wonder什麽都听，不管是Destiny's Child还是谁，只要是出色的节奏蓝调专辑我都听。这些专辑能启发我、令我感动、让我想跳舞。所以，专辑中能有几首歌反映出我对这种音乐的喜爱是很棒的事。歌词上，"Strange Relationship"有点自传色彩，主要是描写我的爱情生活，有关男女在感情中的拉距战。我们请David Campbell做弦乐编排，他曾帮Alanis Morissette的"Uninvited"，和Goo Goo Dolls在电影原声带《X情人》的"Iris"做弦乐编排。所以这首歌很有电影的氛围，我们让他听了很多希区考克的电影配乐，因为我们希望让这首歌充满焦虑的情绪。这是整张唱片最长的一首歌，也是我最喜欢的歌之一。”

Released when she was just 13 years old, vocalist Jojo's 2004 eponymous debut was a bona fide hit album and garnered the young pop star a legion of equally youthful fans, as well as lead roles in two films, including the 2006 comedy RV alongside Robin Williams. To say that the release of her 2006 sophomore effort, The High Road, finds Jojo on the cusp of superstardom is a bit of an understatement. Featuring production and songs by such in demand hitmakers as Swizz Beatz, Soulshock, and Scott Storch — the man who made Paris Hilton sound good — it should come as little surprise that The High Road is a commercially oriented, radio-friendly contemporary pop-R&B album. What may be a surprise is that it is really, really good. These are well-written, catchy pop songs with a healthy dose of hip-hop rhythm that serve as solid launching pads for Jojo's superb vocal abilities. Coming off as a kind of urbanized Jennifer Aniston with the chops of Beyoncé, Jojo is an assured and likeable performer who can somehow embody the yin-yang persona of a suburban cheerleader slinging hip-hop attitude, as she does in the video for the ridiculously overwrought and utterly addictive lead-off single, "Too Little Too Late." It also helps that she's matured just enough so that her somewhat sexy persona makes a bit more sense now than it did in 2004, and she easily sells the cheeky and raw dance-funk of such tracks as "This Time" and "The Way You Do Me." However, it's the blissfully melodic ballads and mid-tempo anthems that make the biggest impression here. Cuts such as the gorgeous and dreamy "Like That" and "Anything," with its unexpectedly hip sampling of Toto's "Africa," make for gleefully enjoyable guilty pleasures. Similarly, "Good Ol'" is the best summer anthem ever to see release in the fall, and "'Comin' for You" smartly borrows some of Kelly Clarkson's rock energy. While Jojo may not be taking a career road less traveled, The High Road does make time for some surprising and memorable pit stops along the way.

Born Lauren Keyana Palmer in Robbins, IL, a small town just outside Chicago, Keke showed vocal promise as a five-year-old when she belted out Jesus Loves Me in her church choir. As a young girl, she honed her vocal skills practicing in her singer/mother’s home recording studio. A lthough music was her passion, Keke’s first big break came via her 2004 screen acting debut in Barbershop 2: Back in Business, playing the part of Queen Latifah’s niece. It was immediately apparent that Keke had star potential, so the Palmer family decided to give her the best chance to pursue her career and relocate to California. I n 2006, Keke appeared as the lead character, Akeelah Anderson, in the critically acclaimed, award-winning film Akeelah and the Bee. Shortly thereafter, Keke appeared in Tyler Perry’s Medea’s Family Reunion, which was number #1 at the box office for two consecutive weeks. She next lit up the small screen with her starring role in the Disney Channel hit movie, Jump In! Shortly after Akeelah, Keke signed with Atlantic Records.

Biography-London-based, Norwegian-born Kate Havnevik spent her formative years with the desire to become a guitarist in the jazz and classical worlds, but these plans were derailed after joining a punk band at the tender age of 14. Since then Havnevik has explored a wide breadth of styles before settling on three main instruments of choice: guitar, piano, and melodica. A demo of her was played on the widely influential Morning Becomes Eclectic program on L.A.'s KCRW-FM and won her a loyal fan base. More recently she collaborated with electronic music poster boys Moby, Röyksopp, and Tom Middleton. A full-length solo debut is currently in production.
