Augusto Matraga is a violent agressive farmer who, after being betrayed by his wife and trapped by several enemies, is bitten up and left for dead, being rescued by a couple of humble small farmers who nurse him for a long time until he is well again. Influenced by the couple, Matraga starts a long penitent life while waiting for his hour and chance to payback, starting a fight between his violent nature, his hidden desire of vengeance and the mysticism and goodness which is also part of him.

Frunze Dovlatyan (1927 - 1997) is one of the leading Armenian directors, he has started as actor in Armenian provincial theatres since 1941 and then Sundukyan Drama Theatre of Yerevan where he was awarded Stalin Premium (major award of that time) for the role of Hrair in the play "These Stars are Ours". After graduating the Directing Department of VGIK (master class of Sergei Gerasimov, he directed movies at Gorky Film Studio then at Mosfilm Studio. Since 1964 he was working at Haifilm Studio. His movie Barev, yes em! (1966) became a milestone and turning point in the history of the Armenian cinema.
The achievements of Frunze Dovlatyan and Henrik Malyan are outstanding during this period. "Hello, It is Me" and "Triangle" are two films shot by these directors that play an important role in the history of Armenian cinema. A contemporary theme underlies these films and the author's vision drastically turns towards the deep understanding of the secret of the contemporary personality, the "inner world" of the man and the problems of his presence in this world. "Hello, It is Me" is a film of wide scope about an Armenian physicist and the trials his generation experiences, the feelings of responsibility so characteristic of him, and how he cannot forget the burdens of his past, and about love.

This three-part Austrian/Czech comedy stretches the boundaries of what is considered to be humorous. Part one finds a silent film actor upset because of a rival actor's attention to the former's wife. When he kills his rival, it is only when he is strapped to the electric chair that he realizes that this is his last live scene. The second episode has the wife of an elderly British nobleman having an affair with the young gamekeeper of their estate. Part three finds a peasant woman taking a lover when her husband goes off to fight the war.

In this somber drama, residents of a small island accuse a nobleman of killing a priest when the man of the cloth disappears. The two were seen arguing, and the nobleman is the main suspect. The priest is only away on a sabbatical trying to regain his faith, but the islanders continue to put pressure on the innocent noble.

This feature-length film, made in 1964, is set on the Austro-Hungarian front during World War One. A lieutenant who participates in the hanging of a Czech deserter is so tormented by remorse that he ends up deserting too, but he gets caught, and is sentenced to death himself.

The dance play is based on the legend of the girl who was danced to death. Using the tools of folk dance, classical ballet and modern dance, the three parts tell the tale of the black man's spell that takes the girl away from her lover in a setting of folk tales, 18th century Rococo and the 1960s metropolis. But in the modern world, in the ballroom bustle of the last part, the girl is no longer alone, but with the help of the other young people, she is freed from the magic of the red shoe and manages to stay with her lover.

When a politician is murdered, the victim's daughter sets out to track down her father's killer. She soon suspects her father's friend and her own mother may have been involved in the murder plot, in this heavy-handed and tragic crime drama.

Rico escaped from an institution in Caxambu that symbolizes hell on Earth for them. When he gets ill, he decides to return to the place because he does not want to die on the streets.

A poor peasant woman becomes a symbol of worker oppression in this somber social drama directed by Henri Barakat. Azziza (Faten Hamama) is brutally raped by a guard when she goes into the fields to gather potatoes for her husband (Abdallah Gheiss). She does not relate the incident to her husband who is suffering from an undisclosed illness. Azziza hides the pregnancy and strangles the baby after it is born, but she also dies soon thereafter. The migrant workers rally around her memory as she becomes a martyr to the cause of the struggling peasants.

In this provocative Soviet drama, an aged couple are left homeless after their farm burns down, and they head off to live with their impoverished daughter. When they arrive, they are appalled to learn that she has abandoned her child and husband to run away with a married man. The husband is now an alcoholic, so the grandparents stay on to support their son-in-law in his time of need and to help care for their grandson. Later, the errant daughter is dumped by her lover and returns. Many fights ensue until the grandfather banishes his troublesome daughter from their lives.

Freed Polish soldiers are trapped in a small town in Germany during the last days of World War II. After a doctor's daughter is raped by a concentration camp worker, the Poles allow her and her father to stay in the house that is their temporary quarters. While waiting to be repatriated, the war-weary group is forced to fight some German soldiers who invade the town. The war brings out conflicting emotions of the Poles who find themselves trapped in the house and once again under fire from the enemy.
