I played this strange little game for hours with my brother and cousins as a kid, but somehow I've completely forgotten it
Blobby Volley - 评论
I just randomly stumbled upon it in the Linux Mint Software Manager and it brought back a stream of memories.
Blobby Volley is beautiful in its simplicity. The ball physics and the controls are perfect. Edges of the screen serve as walls, allowing you more room for strategy. It's very hard to anticipate where the ball is gonna land, as it can bounce off the walls, and it never gets boring like real volleyball.
There are several different bots, some of which feel unfair, as they can clearly track the ball's movement and predict where it's gonna hit. But in all honesty, the game is meant to be played in hot seat. I have already told my cousin about my discovery and some day he'll come by and we'll play the hell out of it.
The graphics consist only of the blob model and the background, but this background is gorgeous and mysterious. It's a volleyball court set up on some clearly uninhabited island. What are these blobs? What are they doing there? Are they doomed to play volleyball for eternity? How did they get there and where did they get a ball from? Is this some wicked experiment perpetrated by a mad scientist? Or are we witnessing some alien life on an earth-type planet? These are just some questions that will never get answered, and nor should they.
If you want the game to get really weird, there is a setting that enables blood. Now every time these blobs hit the ball, they bleed. Now the game truly turns into a bizarre nightmare.
8/10 highly recommended
