Yet another bad Serious Sam clone
Nitro Family - 评论
Unlike many others, this one is actually based on the Serious Engine and I think even some of the assets (like the sound of picking up ammo) are the same. But when it comes to the gameplay, just like every other game of this kind, it completely misunderstands Serious Sam.
The one standout feature here is the dual-wielding, which works fine, but has since been done better in many games, including the updated SS2.
Other than that, it's welcome to endless tunnels of hordes and kiting. For each hand you get one of only three weapons, and enemies aren't exactly more vulnerable to any specific weapons, so you can forget about any depth that SS had. The balancing is also very poor. Enemy movements when up-close become very erratic, making them feel cheap. They definitely lack the physics-based smoothness and intuitiveness that the enemies in SS had.
Visually, I think it looks fine, but it also lacks the atmosphere and the grandeur of Serious Sam's locations. It's also not helped by the pop-punk soundtrack which repeats the same four bars and a hook until you become nauseated.
I would most compare this to the console Serious Sam: Next Encounter, which kinda sorta looked like SS, but beyond its attitude and humor didn't have much going for it. Serious Sam 2, although a very flawed game, is basically an improved version of both this and the Next Encounter. I don't recommend either of them, but if you want this experience, I don't see any point in playing Nitro Family or Next Encounter over SS2.
