老校长（申星一 饰）在人生暮年被查出身患绝症时日无多，心灰意冷的他并不急于治疗以苟且残喘，在一天天的平静时光和日益加重的病痛之中，他安然淡定的等待着死神的降临。一天，一位女护士（裴涩琪 饰）出现在了老校长暗淡的生命之中，护士年轻美艳，在有意无意之中，她似乎对老校长有着什么暗示，而这具鲜活热辣的肉体亦为老校长带来了生命之光。

One rainy day, Cheol (Shin Seong-il), who is a lowly auto mechanic, and Yeong-hui, who works as a maid at the home of the French ambassador, meet by chance. Cheol has a great desire to succeed in life. He tells Yeong-hui that he is the son of a businessman and pretends to be the owner of a luxury sedan. Attracted by Cheol, Yeong-hui also pretends to be the French ambassador's daughter, and the two promise to meet only on rainy days, when she can hide her real identity by wearing an expensive French raincoat. Cheol and Yeong-hui continue to meet for romantic dates in the rain and their love deepens day by day. However, Yeong-hui's conscience is tortured by the need to keep lying, and she confesses the truth to Cheol. Unable to hide his disappointment and anger at the shock of having his hopes dashed, Cheol abandons Yeong-hui.

一个男人到牙科去遇见女演员。躺在诊疗室里的他打麻醉针入睡。在梦里，他看到女演员和牙科医生，看起来像恶魔一样的牙科医生，把女演员称为“爱情”，并在精神上和肉体上进行虐待。他想救出女演员，一起逃跑，但他们的尝试屡屡失败。在梦里醒来的他走出医院，与女演员握手并分手。

Summer, 1983. The entire nation is glued to their television sets as KBS airs a special live broadcast dedicated to reuniting family members who were separated during the Korean War. Hwa-young (Kim Jee-mi), who has been keeping a prosperous and harmonious household, decides to search for her lost son, at the recommendation of her husband (Jeon Mu-song). On the way to the TV station, Hwa-young begins to reminisce about the past. At the end of Japan's occupation of Korea, Hwa-young's family moves to a small village called Kilsodeum, in Hwanghae-do. Hwa-young (Lee Sang-a) soon becomes an orphan, and is taken in by her father's friend, Kim Byung-do. She falls in love with his son Dong-jin (Kim Jung-suk), who treats her with warmth and affection. One rainy day, Hwa-young and Dong-jin consummate their love and Hwa-young gives birth to a child. But the Korean War breaks out and their respective fates take them away from each other. While looking for her son in the rendezvous plaza outside the TV station, Hwa-young reunites with Dong-jin (Shin Seong-il), who has been waiting for her all his life at the expense of the family he built with the daughter (Oh Mi-yeon) of the man who saved his life. The two of them run into Seok-chul (Han Ji-il), a man who has been searching for his parents, and sense that he is their lost son. They go to visit him, but his rude behavior the product of a life spent in the gutters of society causes them to feel a sense of estrangement. Seok-chul's scar and a DNA test virtually confirm that he is their son, but Hwa-young turns her back on him, saying that she will not believe anything less than proofpositive of his parentage. Dong-jin turns away also, as he tosses Hwa-young's contact information in the garbage. As she drives along the road, Hwa-young stops her car for a moment and weeps, but soon continues on her way.

On the day she matriculates in college, Lee-hwa (Jang Mi-hee) meets Yo-sub, a rich man's son who has been sending her anonymous love letters. She accompanies him to his father's vacation house in Cheongpyeong. When Yo-sub tries to take her into his arms, Lee-hwa rejects him and leaves the house. Despondent at being turned down by Lee-hwa, Yo-sub commits suicide, and Lee-hwa resolves never to reject a man who needs her. She falls in love with Wu Suk-gi (Kim Chu-ryeon), a college newspaper reporter involved in student activism. Her meeting with Suk-gi opens her eyes to social consciousness. But with only a week to go before the end of his military service, Suk-gi dies in a car accident. Several years later, Lee-hwa runs into her high school teacher Heo Min (Shin Seong-il). She gives her body as consolation to Min, who has been living a lonely and solitary life since his divorce. But when he asks her to marry him, she turns him down, creates an opportunity for him to reunite with his ex-wife, and departs.
