与此同时，Constance需要得到她继承的一份珠宝，但珠宝却被表哥Tony的生母Mrs.Hardcastle保管着，因为Mrs Harcastle想让她嫁给他的儿子，而珠宝就可以肥水不流外人田。Tony本人十分鄙视他母亲的想法，其实他爱上的是酒吧的服务员而不是表妹。于是他决定帮Constance从母亲那里把珠宝骗来，这样Constance和Hastings就可以逃到法国去了。
最后，Kate的计谋成功了，她顺利的和Marlow订了婚；而Tony发现他母亲一直在掩盖他成年这个事实，现在他可以以自己的名义支配财产了。于是他合法的从母亲那拿到了Constance的珠宝并促成Constance和Hastings的姻缘。
