It has been identified as one of the most explicit albums ever recorded, with feminist themes that are much darker than her previous material, including sex, fear, loss and the insecurities of marriage and motherhood.

On February 6, 2016, the day before her 2015 Super Bowl halftime show performance, Beyoncé released a new buzz single exclusively on Tidal called "Formation". The song was available to download for free. The song was accompanied by a music video directed by Knowles herself. Beyoncé has announced a new visual album called Black Is King. The project is written, directed, and executive produced by Beyoncé. It’s set to premiere on Disney+ on July 31. (Pitchfork earns a commission from purchases made through affiliate links on our site.) Watch the teaser trailer below.
Beyoncé previously worked with Disney on the “live-action” CGI remake of The Lion King, for which she recorded new music and curated the companion album The Lion King: The Gift. According to a press release, Black Is King “reimagines the lessons of The Lion King for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns.” The film is based on the music of The Gift, features some of the album’s collaborators, and promises other special guest appearances. It’s referred to as “a celebratory memoir for the world on the Black experience.” It continues:
The voyages of Black families, throughout time, are honored in a tale about a young king’s transcendent journey through betrayal, love and self-identity. His ancestors help guide him toward his destiny, and with his father’s teachings and guidance from his childhood love, he earns the virtues needed to reclaim his home and throne.

"Sorry" is a song recorded by American singer Beyoncé for her sixth studio album, Lemonade (2016). The song was written and produced by Beyoncé, Wynter Gordon and Sean "Melo-X" Rhoden. It was sent to radio as the album's second single on May 3, 2016. The song's lyrics refer to a possible betrayal of the singer's companion with a woman named Becky.
The song's accompanying music video, premiered in a one-hour film aired on HBO called Lemonade. The video features multiple cameos including celebrities Serena Williams, Ibeyi, Amandla Stenberg, Quvenzhané Wallis, and Zendaya.

"Telephone" is written by Lady Gaga, Rodney Jerkins, LaShawn Daniels, Lazonate Franklin and Beyoncé. Although constructed as a duet, the song features Knowles first appearing in the middle verse and singing her lyrics through a brief interlude, and backs the chorus during the rest of the song. Essentially, Gaga's in a club and her boyfriend keeps ringing, but she can't talk right now because she's drinking and dancing to her favourite song. The chorus runs thusly: "Stop calling, stop calling, I don't want to talk anymore." The song consists of an expanded bridge, verse-rap and an epilogue where the caller gets through to her voicemail.

DEJA VU is the first electrifying single from Beyonce's forthcoming album B'DAY. Features JAY-Z and was co-produced by Beyonce and Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins.
