Letters Live at Freemasons’ Hall

Letters Live presented its first season of shows in 2015 at the iconic Freemasons’ Hall, one of the finest Art Deco buildings in Britain, with Benedict Cumberbatch & Louise Brealey in starring roles.
Cumberbatch and Brealey took to the stage for each of the nights, reading letters alongside a diverse array of world class performers including luminaries from the stage, screen, music, art and literary worlds. A full listing of those who appeared during that week of shows can be seen on the page opposite including Paul Ryan who performed offstage the Voice of God for each event.

A one-off special has been confirmed by ITV and is expected to air in 2016, with the episode being recorded on Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd December 2015. It will be the show's final episode.

Considered by many to be the greatest tragedy ever written, King Lear sees two ageing fathers – one a King, one his courtier – reject the children who truly love them. The Dresser is a wickedly funny and deeply moving story of friendship and loyalty as Sir reflects on his lifelong accomplishments and seeks to reconcile his turbulent friendships with those in his employ before the final curtain.

Meanwhile an army of Orcs led by Azog the Defiler is marching on Erebor, fueled by the rise of the dark lord Sauron. Dwarves, elves and men must unite, and the hope for Middle-Earth falls into Bilbo's hands.
