Björk has released her new album Vulnicura almost two months ahead of schedule a fter it was leaked online.
Tracks from the album were posted online just days after the Icelandic singer announced the title and tracklist. It is being rolled out on iTunes around the world over the next 24 hours, though the vinyl and CD are being kept back for the original March release date.
Serving as the follow-up to 2011’s multimedia project Biophilia, the nine-track effort features production from Arca and The Haxan Cloak. Additionally, Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons sings on the track called “Atom Dance”.

i wanted to tell you the tale of making of this album
i guess i found in my lap one year into writing it a complete heartbreak album . kinda surprised how thoroughly i had documented this in pretty much accurate emotional chronology …. like 3 songs before a break up and three after . so the anthropologist in me sneaked in and i decided to share them as such . first i was worried it would be too self indulgent but then i felt it might make it even more universal . and hopefully the songs could be a help , a crutch to others and prove how biological this process is : the wound and the healing of the wound . psychologically and physically . it has a stubborn clock attached to it .
there is a way out
and then a magic thing happened to me : as i lost one thing something else entered . alejandro contacted me late summer 2013 and was interested in working with me . it was perfect timing . to make beats to the songs would have taken me 3 years ( like on vespertine ) but this enchanted arca would visit me repeatedly and only few months later we had a whole album !!! it is one of the most enjoyable collaboration i have had !
i then went ahead and wrote string and choir arrangements and recorded them in iceland
towards the end of the album i started looking around for a mixing engineer and was introduced by a mutual friend of ours , robin carolan to the haxan cloak . he mixed the album and also made a beat for one half of “family” . together with chris elms the engineer we kinda formed a band during the mixing process and this is the album we made !!!

Homogenic is the third studio album by Icelandic musician Björk, released in September 1997. Produced by Björk, Mark Bell, Guy Sigsworth, Howie B and Markus Dravs, it was released on One Little Indian Records. The music of Homogenic was a new style for Björk, focusing on similar sounding music combining electronic beats and string instruments with songs in tribute to her native country Iceland. Homogenic was originally to be produced in her home in London, United Kingdom, but was later recorded in Spain to avoid interruption from the press after the suicide of Björk's stalker Ricardo Lopez.
Homogenic marked the first of several production collaborations between Mark Bell and Björk, who Björk would cite as a major influence on her musical career. The album peaked at number twenty-eight on the Billboard 200, and at number four on the UK Albums Chart. Five singles were released from Homogenic: "Jóga", "Bachelorette", "Hunter", "Alarm Call" and "All Is Full of Love". Homogenic was highly acclaimed on its initial release and continues to be praised by critics, with Sal Cinquemani of Slant Magazine stating that "if not the greatest electronic album of all time, it's certainly the greatest of its decade".

Renowned director Lars Von Trier's stroke of genius in making his 2000 film DANCER IN THE DARK was to cast Iceland-born avant-pop siren Bjork in the central role and then enlist her aid in composing and performing a series of musical numbers for the movie. In the film, Bjork's character Selma lives an unrelentingly hard life as a single mother and factory worker who is quickly going blind. The film's songs come from Selma's inner world, where she (and the audience) find respite from all the harshness of reality.
Bjork's compositions, with orchestral arrangements from Vince Mendoza, hang together on their own quite nicely. Catherine Deneuve (Bjork's co-star) and Radiohead's Thom Yorke make effective vocal cameos, but Bjork's voice and music are the central focus. As we hear the industrial sounds of the factory turn into the rhythm of a song, or follow Bjork's oddly intuitive melodic leaps through a dreamlike haze of strings, it becomes clear that her idiosyncratic writing style adapts quite well to the cinematic milieu. As usual, her uniquely entrancing singing style stands out above almost all else.

Vespertine, released in August 2001, is an album by the Icelandic singer/songwriter/musician Björk. It sees Björk creating an introverted, quiet world of swirling microbeats and personal lyrics. On the cover she can be seen wearing the swan dress (designed by Marjan Pejoski) that caused a stir at the 2001 Academy Awards.
The album was originally released both on CD and on DVD-Audio in 2-channel (48khz/24bit) and 5.1-channel (96khz/24bit) advanced resolution. It peaked at number eight in the UK Albums Chart and at number 19 in the U.S. Billboard 200. It was also nominated for Best Alternative Album at the 2002 Grammy Awards. Recently music webzine Drowned In Sound named Vespertine the number-one album of the last six years not to garner press attention.[1] Stylus Magazine placed it 36th on their 'Top 50 Albums: 2000-2005 Vespertine was also selected as one of the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.
The album was re-released in 2006 as a DualDisc including a lower-quality DTS 96/24 version of the original advanced resolution 5.1 mix. The DualDisc also formed part of the box set.
On August 22, 2008 Björk wrote an open letter on her official website expressing her anger at the fact that Valgeir Sigurðsson has over the years been credited with writing the instrumentals for the album. She explained that he had been only an engineer and programmer (and that she herself had produced every track on the album), and argued that part of the reason was to do with sexism in the music industry.

Utopia (stylized as utopia) is the upcoming ninth studio album by Icelandic musician Björk, scheduled for release on 24 November 2017 through One Little Indian Records. During a Facebook Live event held on 15 September 2017 to promote the album's first single, Björk gave insight into the album's theme of utopia in an uncertain political environment: "We have Trump, we have Brexit, we have our issues in Iceland, we have our environmental issues. I think if there ever was an urgency or necessity to come up with another Utopian model, how we're going to live our lives, I think it's now, and (these are) my proposals."

Vulnicura Live is a live album by Icelandic singer-songwriter Björk featuring 14 songs performed during her 2015 Vulnicura Tour. The release was available exclusively through Rough Trade record shops in very limited quantities and is published by One Little Indian. It has since sold out online but a limited number of CDs and LPs are expected at Rough Trade stores on release day.
On 21 October 2015, the official Rough Trade website posted an early listing of separate 2 x CD / 2 x LP sets entitled Vulnicura Live, a collection of 14 songs recorded on Björk's 2015 tour to promote her critically acclaimed album, Vulnicura. The live album was mixed and put together by Björk herself with help from Arca and The Haxan Cloak, her co-producers on Vulnicura. The sets were officially announced the following day, and are limited to 1000 copies for each format and available exclusively through Rough Trade. Initial reports incorrectly stated that the double album would feature 7 Vulnicura song and 7 songs from Björk's previous albums, but the final track list contains 8 Vulnicura cuts and only 6 from her back catalog.
The CD edition will be released on 13 November 2015 and comes with 4 photo prints in a clear plastic sleeve, with the LP following on 4 December 2015. The vinyl set omits one song, "All Neon Like", and the records are presented as double-sided picture discs in place of the photo prints.[1][2] The vinyl sold out within 2 days followed by the CD edition 3 days later, but limited quantities of the album are expected at Rough Trade stores throughout London and in Brooklyn, NY on their respective release dates.
The first 100 people that preordered the vinyl received a wristband that allowed them entry into a special DJ set with Björk and Arca at the Rough Trade East store in London that took place on Halloween night, 2015.
