"Legend And Lore - Dark Folklore And European Myths” is the title of a new compilation with recent tracks from some of the most exciting contemporary (neo-) Folk musicians. Apart from established and successful acts such as Tenhi, Orplid, Gaë Bolg, Of The Wand And The Moon, or Hekate, the CD also presents Vàli, Neun Welten and Subaudition - highly interesting newcomers and insider tips, already showing all signs that they are going to be influential players in the genre’s future developments.
“Legend And Lore” is presented in a lavishly designed, high-quality Digipak. This compilation offers a wonderful anthology of the Dark Folk genre for all those with an affinity for romanticism and nature mysticism.

NEBELUNG are a young band from Germany, their music flows from the whispers of nature till the gentleness of Creation. They showed us, how powerful it can be when you're use the term "less is more" correctly.
"Vigil" is the first fulltimealbum of the band, after the EP "mistelteinn". They're singing in german and Stefan Ottos voice is full of sadness but powerful in the end of all. There's no consolation, only solitude and melancholy. "Sturm" stands on the top of all, it's truly stormy. All the lyrics are inspired by the spirit from the turn of the century, three of them are by the famous german writers Gertrud Kolmar, Georg Trakl and Stefan George.
This pure acoustic music is dominated by the guitars but you will find also an bass, an violine and an accordion in it. The songs are like a dark call from the woods. Listen to them on quite places in moments of melancholy. Then maybe you will remember FORSETI, EMPYRIUM or ULVER but there's never the bitter taste of missing authenticity on "Vigil". On the contrary: no other band combines poetry, music and sound so close to a picture of humans in the woods and meadows…

来自德国的 Empyrium 乐队其实更象是乐队灵魂人物Ulf Theodor Schwadorf 的个人项目，因为他包办了超过三分之二的音乐创作，还负责吉他、贝司、鼓及合成器的演奏和大部分的演唱。甚至可以说没有 Empyrium 就没有 Prophecy Productions 这家唱片公司！在 Prophecy Productions 的网站上写着这么一句：“The history of Empyrium is also the history of Prophecy Productions. Empyrium′s debut ‘A Wintersunset’, our first release, saw the light of day in 1996 and was the reason for founding Prophecy Productions.”

其实只要看看专辑的名字就可以想象得到他们要带给我们一种怎样的意境——寂静的夜里，风过之处我们听到树木们在低声歌唱，这是怎样的一种美景？！以木吉他为主线的音乐和一高一低的双清嗓主唱为我们营造出了一种非常 wood & wind 的感觉，宁静深邃而悠长。
主题仍旧是一贯的自然、美丽、死亡和沮丧。歌词都很短，然而诗歌般的歌词所表达的意境却很深远，犹如中国的古典绘画，虽然留下了大片的空白，却让人回味无穷。

The music is far more polyphonic again, and due to the new singer "Christina" who has a much higher voice and greater pitch range, i could focus much more on female 2 voices tunes. Although this album braught back the polyphony of "Come Heavy Sleep" it kept the darker style of "In Darkness Let Me Dwell", and also contains more complex kettle drum rhythms.
The lyrics are this time from John Dowland and Girgori Petrenko (who also wrote several lyrics for my dark electro project Ice Ages).

Seelenthron是Dies Natalis的side Project。大家知道，在DN音乐中，家庭的那种温暖会让人回想起很多事情，原声乐器的运用更把这种情怀突出得非常优美。Neofolk是什么？其实没人能与它下定义，或许Neofolk本不完全是Dark的。在低调中去体会那如露水般的柔情。这样很好。也是音乐本身的面貌，无论什么音乐，感动是永久的注释。情绪是流动的，随着事情变化。还是说说这张唱片。
开场曲Track 1以钢琴开始，那钢琴的高音琴键所分解出的情绪，把我们缓缓带入了一个音乐所创造的世界。钢琴是一种很能有共鸣的乐器，当军鼓和重旋律想起那一瞬间，那是种情绪的飞跃。他们做得很好，让人不知觉中，得到了情绪的感染。
这里我想重点谈下Track 3:“Der Tag”。主观上来说，实在太美丽的一首曲子，很有画面感。温暖的原声吉他渲染出一片和谐的画面，我好象看见了妇女，孩子，老人，和绿地，麦田。男声的独白，深情而婉转，浑厚却充满魅力。他仿佛在为你讲述着故事。属于他们的故事，也许也同样属于你。在这个凉风阵阵的日子，听着这样的旋律。我有种说不清楚的感觉，可我久久地去回味。高潮部分，定音低音鼓和军鼓奏起了情绪的旋律。而男声的吟唱岁着旋律的摇摆，仿佛我也随着流淌在那条纯洁的河流里，去享受那种情怀。
Track 4“Gestrandet”，一首充满着节奏感的民谣。温暖而散漫，气息流淌。饱满你的耳朵，充足你的听觉。Track 7“Heimkehr”在弦乐的伴奏下，定音鼓如雷鸣般轰鸣着，而纯洁的童声贯穿其中。仿佛在呼唤.....像是在深邃中的呼唤。悲壮的旋律伴随着男声的独白把情绪升到了顶点。迷乱的高潮过后，那清脆的童声再次响起，一首甜蜜，但忧伤的童谣一点点含糊地哼出，让人联想感叹。结尾曲在氛围和钢琴的伴奏下，男声说道出一种压抑，或许更多的是一种阴愁。
总得来说，在今年新民谣低迷的年份，传统的声音再次响起（虽然这张是２００５年的，但我也是才听到），让人开心，更让人回味。---转自网络
