Hannah Read has written and performed as Lomelda for most of her musical life. The project has been her outlet from the slow, shaggy days in her east Texas hometown of Silsbee, through moves to Waco and Austin, and into her wandering present. Her music is textural and spacious. Her words are suggestive snapshots of loosely knitted observations, depicting quiet moments between friends and lovers and half-remembered celestial occurrences. In her songs, the memory of the past and glimpses of future stretch out on either side of you, and the present is unsteady and always shifting.

The daughter of oboist Robert Bloom, Kath Bloom is an American singer/songwriter comparable to Vashti Bunyan. She grew up in New Haven, CT, where she studied the cello as a child and started playing the guitar when she was a teenager. Bloom collaborated with Bruce Neumann in the early '70s, but it wasn't until she met avant-garde guitarist Loren MazzaCane Connors in 1976 that she started recording. Bloom and Connors recorded five albums of fragile, simple folk and blues melodies, the majority of which were written by Bloom herself. Their collaboration ended in 1984 with the release of their final album, Moonlight, of which only 300 copies were pressed.
Bloom stopped recording new material soon after her collaboration with Connors ended, and a period of financial hardship followed. A single mother, Bloom focused on raising her children, rarely playing shows outside of New Haven. Director Richard Linklater discovered Bloom's music sometime in the early '90s and subsequently featured her song "Come Here" in his 1995 film, Before Sunrise. Encouraged by Linklater's interest in her music, Bloom started writing new songs and released her first album in over ten years, Come Here: The Florida Years, in 1999. The album was followed up with a re-release of songs she had recorded with Connors just before they split up, 1981-1984. This was followed by Sing the Children Over in 2001, Kath Bloom and Loren MazzaCane Connors in 2002, and Finally in 2005.

The enigmatic Chelsea Wolfe has announced details of a new album, ‘Hiss Spun’. Recorded at God City Studios by Converge guitarist, Kurt Ballou, ‘Hiss Spun’ will be released on September 22 via Sargent House.
The new record was produced by Coverge's Kurt Ballou and features additional guitar work by Queens of the Stone Age's Troy Van Leeuwen.
"I'm at odds with myself," Wolfe explains. "I got tired of trying to disappear. The record became very personal in that way. I wanted to open up more, but also create my own reality."
Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens of the Stone Age, Failure) and Aaron Turner (Old Man Gloom, SUMAC) both contribute to the record.
In support of the latest material, Wolfe has also announced an upcoming North American tour. It includes Canadian stops in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.

TORRES is the creative alter-ego of Brooklyn-based Mackenzie Scott. In describing the new album Three Futures, Scott says it “is entirely about using the body that each of us has been given as a mechanism of joy”. The 10 original tracks on Three Futures embrace ecstasy, desire and indulgence rather than self-denial, and exude this idea via immersive music. Mechanized grooves are placed at the forefront, providing a framework for perforated electro-pop static, harsh gothic / industrial textures, and insistent Krautrock motifs.
For Three Futures, Scott reconnected with producer Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey), who worked on TORRES’ last album Sprinter, to record in Stockport and Dorset, England. David Tolomei (Beach House, Future Islands) mixed the album.

About the Artist Formed in 1999 featuring former and current members of Stars of the Lid, Ultrasound, and Cinders, the seven-piece My Education is an instrumental hybrid: part space-rock cacophony, part punk rock sonic wipeout, and part ambient bad trip. Founding members Brian Purington, Eric Gibbons, and Sean Seagler left "dirty, nasty" San Angelo, TX, behind in 1999, relocating in Austin, TX, and promptly found themselves frightening clubgoers with their unique yet unsettling sound, and eventually recorded a two-track 7" at former 16 Deluxe snakepit/recording studio The Bubble with vocalist Joe Covington. Covington was later sacked to make room for larger mike stands, and with the addition of keyboardist Kirk Laktas and second, taller guitarist Chris Hackstie, assumed their current line-up, usual suspects all.

If Blue Could Be Happiness is the second full length album from soft-synthesizer-folk band Florist. It is an observation of change; a full color memory album. It is both a goodbye to a past life and a declaration of great love to a new one. A long mourning song for the death of a mother, and a quiet celebration of the endless struggle that is being alive. Recorded by the band during May of 2017 in an Upstate New York schoolhouse very near to where songwriter Emily Sprague spent her childhood and where the band originated. The final track of the record, “Red Bird”, was written and recorded by Emily on the day before her mother died unexpectedly in March of 2017. The song remains in demo form on the album just as she had heard it.

Annea Lockwood is a New Zealand-born American composer and academic musician. She taught electronic music at Vassar College. Her work often involves recordings of natural found sounds. She has also recorded Fluxus-inspired pieces involving burning or drowning pianos.

Julianna Barwick-- who is known for her gorgeous layered-vocal compositions-- she's putting out her first album for Sufjan Stevens' label, Asthmatic Kitty. The nine-track record is called The Magic Place and is due out February 22.

Phoebe Bridgers wrote her first song at age 11, spent her adolescence at open mic nights, and busked through her teenage years at farmers markets in her native Los Angeles. By age 20, she'd caught the ear of Ryan Adams, who listened to her perform her song "Killer" in his L.A. studio, inviting her to come back and record it there the next day. The session blossomed into the three-song ‘Killer’ EP, released to much acclaim on Adams’s Pax-Am label in 2015. In the two short years since, Bridgers has toured or played with Conor Oberst, Julien Baker, City and Colour, Violent Femmes, Mitski, Television and Blake Babies among others.
On September 22nd, Phoebe Bridgers will release her debut full-length, Stranger In The Alps.
