The Connection is the seventh album by California rock band Papa Roach. It is set to be released on October 2, 2012 through Eleven Seven Music. The album was produced by Sixx:A.M. vocalist James Michael, who co-produced the band's previous full-length album Metamorphosis, and Goldfinger vocalist John Feldmann. The first single, "Still Swinging", was released on July 24, 2012. A non-album track titled "Even If I Could" appeared on The Avengers Soundtrack.

Jacoby Shaddix has described the album as a "rediscovery of the basic elements of Papa Roach." He states: "We kind of went back and looked at the history of our band and really thought about… Creatively, what evolutions have we gone through? When we came in, it was, like, metal and hip-hop and nu-metal, and then we kind of got more into straight-ahead rock and then we added pop elements to our band. So this record just encompasses everything we’ve done from the beginning to where we are currently as a band; it just kind of connects the dots of all the elements of our sound over the years."
In regards to the album's title, Shaddix stated it was one of many different titles the band went through. "We always just kept coming back to ‘The Connection.’" stated Shaddix. "What ‘The Connection’ means to us, it’s our connection to the music, it’s the connection of this music to the fans, it’s the connection that we make onstage with our music, it’s the connection from fan-to-fan on the social Internet marketing media world."

Californian rockers PAPA ROACH will release their eighth studio album "F.E.A.R.", on January 27, 2015 via Eleven Seven Music. The follow-up to 2012's "The Connection" was recorded at Las Vegas' The Hideout Recording Studio, which is owned and operated by Canadian producer Kevin Churko, who has previously worked with OZZY OSBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, IN THIS MOMENT and HELLYEAH.
PAPA ROACH guitarist Jerry Horton revealed that the band worked with two producers, Kevin Churko and Kevin's son Kane, saying, "We did the first five songs with Kevin, the dad, and then the last seven with the son, because [Kevin] had a prior engagement with IN THIS MOMENT… It was a different sort of workflow, but we got into it and it was cool. And I think we came out with some really good stuff."
PAPA ROACH singer Jacoby Shaddix told Kerrang! magazine that "F.E.A.R." is "probably the most positive record we've written," adding, "There's obviously been an element of hope within the despair of the music that we write, and I think that that's always key, and that's very important to what we do, is to always have that element of hope, and that's laced throughout the record."
Shaddix, a recovering alcoholic and drug user, said he was nervous about camping out in Las Vegas during the recording sessions for the new album. He explained, "I've been sober for a few years now, and it was just, like, 'All right, how am I gonna go to Vegas and stay focused?' And I just had to put my spiritual armor on and just go out there and do my best to be creative."
Shaddix described the new album as "all things good PAPA ROACH — it's big, banging riffs, it's a very guitar-heavy record . . . It spans across the board, from heavy to reflective, to just in your face, out of control. It's just everything that we believe is great about PAPA ROACH."

The band released their demo also Rage Against The Machine, 11 months prior which contained earlier recordings of 7 out of 12 songs found on this album.

With politically themed lyrical content, the album artwork was notable for featuring a graphic photograph of Thích Quảng Đức committing self-immolation. Rage Against the Machine was a critical success upon release with several critics noting the album's politically motivated agenda as well as de la Rocha's strong delivery.

Rated number 24 on the Rolling Stone's list of "100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time", the album peaked at number 1 on the US Billboard Heatseekers chart and number 45 on the US Billboard 200 and has gone on to achieve triple platinum sales certification in the US and produced four singles:

The band announced on October 9, 2012, via their Facebook page that they would be releasing a special 20th anniversary boxset to commemorate the group's debut album. The boxset contains never-before-released concert material, including the band's 2010 Finsbury Park show and footage from early in their career, as well as a digitally-remastered version of the album, B-sides and the original Rage Against The Machine demo tape (on CD for the first time). The collection was released on November 27, 2012.
