一九六九年，在《龙门客栈》当副导演的屠忠训，独当一面导演处女作《龙城十日》，以南宋时代，金人入主中原为背景：
南宋时，金人入据中原，时北方有要县龙城，金将卜楞（石隽）新任驻守该县之县司，上任之日将当地藏有「抗金密图」之大户陈仰薪家八十多口全部杀死。
某日一艳装女郎款步入城，但旋被镇中金人爪牙钉住，女潜入一药铺后院，与店东见面，原来她竟是抗金大本营中派出的密探玉蜻蜓尚炎芝（徐枫），此行为探听失落的「抗金密图」而来，店东亦为抗金同志，告尚夺城之机已泄漏，金兵正大肆搜杀，为该密图不知下落，可能尚未落入金兵之手，以图中记载之事关系重大，决定亲自寻找。
深夜，尚炎芝入陈宅寻密图，不料被金副司哈喇（薛汉）所困，急切间被为一蒙面黑衣人解围脱走。次日再入药铺，却见药铺已被金兵封闭，店东并於昨晚处决；尚炎芝乔装杂在百姓中，见一官员频频以眼色示意，尚炎芝十分疑惑。打听出该官员为县司营中的书办居之退（贾鲁石）。入夜，尚炎芝潜入居家，却见居之退正秉烛而待，笑著告诉尚炎芝，所要寻找的东西已经有下落，明日五时至东门「客来居」茶馆取物。
尚炎芝依时在「客来居」茶馆等候，忽见一跛子仓惶走来，嘱咐尚炎芝尽速离去，尚炎芝刚出茶馆，就见跛子被三四名大汉刺杀。尚炎芝再至居家中，居亦遭到毒手。宪司营卜楞与哈喇蹉商对策，卜以为此事应该等待御前八罗汉之一的追命双环窝里（陈慧楼）来处理，窝将於日离京来此督剿抗金势力.....
