dEUS return with a new album on October 3rd. ‘Keep You Close’ is the follow up to 2008’s ‘Vantage Point’ and was recorded at the band’s own studio in their home city of Antwerp over a six month period with producers David Botrill and Adam Noble.

Icelandic wonder Ólöf Arnalds releases a new five-track covers EP in November by way of a stopgap release while she works on a follow-up to last year’s Innundir Skinni, due in Spring 2012. Arthur Russell, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan and Caetano Veloso all the Arnalds treatment which has previously brought so much light and loveliness to the likes of Kyu Sakamoto’s ‘Sukiyaki‘ and the Johnny Cash-popularised ‘That Lucky Old Sun‘, among others. Since their modest beginnings as four guys who drove around southern California with their gear in their cars, packing whatever they could steal a space, Cold War Kids have always exhibited two qualities in their music, intense passion and emotional truth. Lithe and percussive, roaring and tuneful, the soul-punk on the Long Beach quartet's first two albums Robbers & Cowards and Loyalty To Loyalty emerged like miniature goth novels. Singer Nathan Willett channeled taut dramas of men on the edge, families in peril, and crises of faith. The musical literature of these four tight-knit friends-Willett, Jonnie Russell, Matt Maust and Matt Aveiro was a sound that augured something bigger, something more universal.

The CD will be initially available in a 'Muda na Mono' puzzle pack, the name taken from a Japanese phrase meaning ‘pointless object’. It contains two die-cut rings and a CD which can be assembled as per the diagram above. If correctly aligned, the sphere created allows the track titles to be read. The packaging reflects a desire to give the CD an ornamental function, beyond its one use as a basic storage device for music.
