Avi Buffalo return with At Best Cuckold, the follow up to their 2010 self-titled debut. That's the cover art above. Produced by the band's Avi Zahner-Isenberg, it's out September 9 in North America and September 8 in Europe via Sub Pop.

London four-piece Woman’s Hour today announce their highly anticipated debut album Conversations out July 14th (15th in the US) on Secretly Canadian.

On August 19th, Brooklyn indie-pop outfit Bishop Allen return with Lights Out, their first new album in five years. Due out via Dead Oceans, the 12-track effort follows 2009′s Grrr… and sees founding members Justin Rice and Christian Rudder reunite after pursuing various solo projects. In anticipation, they’ve unveiled the album’s opening track, a peppy and hopeful number entitled “Start Again”.

Hohokum is a distinct creative collaboration between artist Richard Hogg and Honeyslug, a London-based game studio. The vibrantly whimsical game emphasizes exploration and creativity with a playful touch. With the vision to create an experience free of typical video games pressures, Honeyslug delivers inspiring and unique gameplay in Hohokum.
Players take on the role of a flying, Technicolor being, like a curious kite. Travelling through the colorful world, players can uncover secrets by interacting with elements around them in different ways—such as carrying characters to new areas on their back or flying over objects to illuminate them. Hohokum is full of surprise; even running into certain objects can be its own reward, as the interaction produces music or effects which add to the level’s soundtrack. From the way a player navigates the world to how characters can communicate to the vividly abstract artwork, Hohokum is an expressive and mesmerizing universe. While there are goals, secrets, and trophies discovered along the way, at its heart, Hohokum is a playground—a place to wander about and get lost in.
The music of Hohokum mirrors the game’s eclectic and detailed landscape, with a wide selection of Ghostly artists contributing their songs. Between musicians and producers like Tycho, Shigeto, Matthew Dear, and Com Truise, the soundtrack is a fully realized exhibition of contemporary electronic sounds. Hohokum Soundtrack arrives on August 12 as a 22-song digital compilation and on October 28 as a rainbow-colored 12” vinyl sampler featuring seven special cuts.

Sinead O'Connor is back with a new album title that was inspired by Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg's Ban Bossy campaign. "I'm Not Bossy, I'm The Boss," the singer-songwriter's 10th studio album, will arrive on Aug. 12 through new label Nettwerk.
"Originally I had a different title, 'The Vishnu Room,'" O'Connor writes in a statement on her official web site, "but a few months back when I saw the phrase 'I'm not bossy, I'm the boss' and became aware of the Ban Bossy campaign, I wished I could re-name the album, since indeed it can be tricky being a female boss and I think Sheryl's campaign is a terribly important one."

Trans Am will return this spring with their 10th studio album. Fittingly titled Volume X, the upcoming effort arrives May 20 via Thrill Jockey Records. Recorded at San Francisco's LCR Studios, the full-length is armed with 10 mostly instrumental tracks that the post-rock outfit produced themselves.

Canadian quintet Alvvays (pronounced "Always") burst out of the gates with their self-titled 2014 debut, a brief but bright collection of nine songs of nearly perfect, sugar-coated indie pop. The band call on inspiration from the jangly C-86 movement and bands like the Wedding Present or Talulah Gosh, but also lean on the fuzzy, homespun spirit of early American independent bedroom pop and twee while steeping their tunes in a languid dreaminess borrowed from Teenage Fanclub at their most wistful. The album opens with the one-two punch of "Adult Diversion" and "Archie, Marry Me," two single-worthy songs of noisy guitars, gloriously deadpan vocal harmonies, and sticky melodies cemented in the listener's skull by the interplay between guitar and singer Molly Rankin's cascading vocals. The album is full of highlights, from the synthy melancholia of "Party Police" to the Orange Juice-esque interweaving guitar lines of "Atop a Cake." While Alvvays relies on the same reverb-heavy production that an entire generation of beach-obsessed indie pop bands has tended toward, they surpass many of their peers by delivering more inspired songs, often with unexpected shifts or breakthrough moments. This debut surpasses simply being "promising" by delivering pop as beautifully composed as that of contemporaries like Pains of Being Pure at Heart or Veronica Falls, while also tying in sentiments of punk gusto, twee wonderment, and dream pop thoughtfulness without relying strictly on the musical blueprints of any of those genres. Instead, Alvvays find a way to articulate their heart-struck, dream-like songs with deft intention and control.

Early Riser is the debut studio album released by Taylor McFerrin on June 2, 2014 through Brainfeeder.
The album took nearly six years to complete. McFerrin intended to sing on the entire record before realizing that it was not always necessary for him to sing over his music.

Come July 29th, after a three year hiatus from the massively confident and genre-redefining debut Black Up, Shabazz Palaces are back with what is arguably (or if you work at Sub Pop, inarguably) the most anticipated record of the year, Lese Majesty. The record’s 18 tracks are grouped into seven suites, creating an experience for listeners that is alarmingly interesting while maintaining artistic cohesion. IT’S VERY GOOD IS WHAT WE’RE SAYING. Here’s the long-awaited first track to be unveiled from Shabazz Palaces‘ lush, dizzyingly brilliant new full-length, Lese Majesty. Not necessarily the most representative track on the new record, “They Come in Gold” kicks off with the kind of diamond-hard beat and ominous flow that made Black Up the best album of 2011, but the comparison with the last record ends there. When taken out of the context of the new album, only the song’s brighter, prismatic second half begins to hint at the impossibly deep, singular astral landscape the group has created on Lese Majesty.
