当然,如果你已经拥有了《1962-1966》和《1967-1970》两套精选唱片,这张《1》对你的吸引力未必很大,作为一个普通乐迷,已经差不多拥有了最流行的The Beatles作品,不过如果你是忠实的「披头迷」,这张唱片的价钱还是省不了的,因为唱片的小册子印满了每一张细碟的原装封套,无论是英国版、美国版、法国版或日本版均一并印载,仿如一本迷你的The Beatles细碟全书。
况且《1962-1966》和《1967-1970》都是双唱片集,而各自收录的歌曲亦只是廿多首,相比之下,《1》就更物超所值了。
Mariah Carey在98年也曾推出过一张叫《#1's》的冠军细碟精选唱片,但就只收录16首歌,还要强硬将翻唱Brenda K.Starr的《I Still Believe》(林忆莲比她更早翻唱!)和几首未能夺魁的单曲加诸其中,比起廿七首冠军歌,也实在相差太远了!

Abbey Road is the eleventh released studio album by English rock band The Beatles and their last recorded. Though Let It Be was the last album released before the band's dissolution in 1970, work on Abbey Road began in April 1969. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (often referred to simply as Sgt. Pepper) is the eighth studio album by the English rock band the Beatles. Released on 26 May 1967, Sgt. Pepper is regarded by musicologists as an early concept album that advanced the roles of sound composition, extended form, psychedelic imagery, record sleeves, and the producer in popular music. The album had an immediate cross-generational impact and was associated with numerous touchstones of the era's youth culture, such as fashion, drugs, mysticism, and a sense of optimism and empowerment. Brian Wilson窮其一生都沒能做出超越Pet Sounds的專輯。他在聽了Beatles的新作Revolver之後,陷入自我超越的巨大壓力,在他心目中足以幹倒Revolver的專輯尚未完成之時,Beatles已經接著推出了他們的曠世鉅作Sgt. Pepper,其中許多元素都是從Pet Sounds汲取的靈感。可憐的Brian Wilson在迷幻藥和創作壓力的交逼之下陷入瓶頸,幾度精神崩潰,甚至自殺未遂。這位曠古難見的天才從此過著低調隱居的生活,Pet Sounds那樣的巔峰之作,遂為絕響。
不過我們已經有了Pet Sounds,人生畢竟不該太貪心的。
