With “Flukt fra menneskeligheten”, Skarntyde present their debut album. The title (in English: “Escape from humaneness”) already suggests a concept that is under the sign of Black Metal. Thematically, everything revolves around a protagonist who turns his back on civilisation. In various stages, he witnesses memorable, intense experiences of nature that change his way of thinking. Alienated from society, the wish for the end of humankind finally begins to grow in him.
As diverse as the impressions of nature are, as diverse are the instruments and the vocals. The duo from Upper Bavaria follows paths that have had a significant influence on the genre since the mid-90s. In their homage, Skarntyde are not only oriented in terms of sound to the Scandinavian pioneers, but also in terms of language – since all the lyrics are written in Norwegian.
