For those of a horizontal nature, Phil Mison needs little introduction. Over the last two decades, the DJ, producer and songwriter has become one of the most celebrated names on the Balearic chill-out scene. Here, he presents his second solo album under the Cantoma moniker 'Out Of Town' Influenced by listening to legendary chill out DJ Jose Padilla, Phil started his DJ career at London's Milk Bar in 1991, playing chilled Balearic warm up sets. A chance meeting there with Jose would lead to a two year residency at Ibiza's Cafe Del Mar, sound tracking a thousand sunsets with his vast collection of sun kissed records. It was his sets there that led him to play at Full Circle, Bugged Out and to become Leftfield's tour DJ. It was this huge knowledge of the chill-out genre that earned Mison a chance to put out his first compilation 'Original Chill Out' in 1995. With its beatless, mood-friendly approach to mixing electronic music, it was something of a groundbreaking collection. Since then he has gone on to release a further 12 compilations (including four volumes of the hugely popular 'Real Ibiza' series), record with friend Pete Herbert under the Reverso 68 guise and in 2004, release his debut artist album under the now familiar Cantoma moniker. Phil has also recently been invited to play at Harvey's 39 Hotel in Hawaii and in the last year played at Horse Meat Disco, Fabric, Secret Sundaze, Disco Bloodbath and APT in New York. 'Out Of Town', his first release for the Leng label, picks up where that acclaimed debut left off. As you'd expect from a man who has devoted his life to showcasing the finest down tempo music from around the world, 'Out Of Town' fuses a wide variety of sounds and styles. The result is a beautiful, otherworldly album that moves effortlessly between blissful flamenco, shimmering, slo-mo nu disco, dubbed-out tango and haunting, ethereal soundscapes. As it unfolds, 'Out Of Town' continues to surprise and delight in equal measure. There are emotion-rich songs ('Suomi, the confident and hooky 'Under the Stars' and the more obviously Balearic 'Only People'), blissful soundscapes ('Out of Town', 'Trees of Highwood') and future chill-out anthems ('Paloma'). Throughout, Mison maintains an air of sun-flecked beauty and, as the myth and majesty envelops you, it's hard not to dream of starry, cloudless Ibizan nights and sweltering, peaceful afternoons by the pool.

Simon Green aka Bonobo returns with his sixth album, the masterful, magisterial “Migration” – a record which cements his place in the very highest echelons of electronic music and beyond. By turns lush, manic, beautiful, melancholy, joyful, packed with both emotion and technical skill, this is perhaps his most ambitious attempt yet to capture the very textures of human existence in his work, as Green says of the broad dynamics on the album, "Life has highs, lows, loud and quiet moments, beautiful ones and ugly ones. Music is a reflection of life."
In particular, there is a theme here of migration, eruditely put by Green as “The study of people and spaces,” he expands, “It’s interesting how one person will take an influence from one part of the world and move with that influence and effect another part of the world. Over time, the identities of places evolve.” It is a theme with a personal as well as a sociological aspect to it. Last year, a close family member passed away. “My family and I are all disbanded and spread to far corners of the earth,” explains Green, “In the end we did the funeral in Brighton. My own personal idea of identity, where I am from, and what home is, has played into this record and its migratory themes. Is home where you are or where you are from, when you move around?”
Opener and title track ‘Migration’ sets the tone for the record – a shifting, gradually building combination of complex electronic programming (Green programmed a special algorhythm to create the drum sequencing) and live piano playing, the sense of movement in the music is palpable. ‘Outlier' channels a swinging take on 2-step back into luscious romanticism, before changing direction and finishing hard on the dancefloor (not for nothing has Bonobo talked about the central importance to the overall feel of the album of his all-night Output DJ residencies in NY and his ‘Outlier’ club curation series, where he road-tested tracks). ‘Second Sun’ mixes guitar, feedback and strings in completely unfamiliar ways. ‘Kerala’ takes a RnB vocal sample from a classic Brandy track and uses it more as texture than as voice. This innovation is expanded upon and broadened on ‘Grains’, this time with the voice of folk godfather Pete Seeger.
Beyond this, Green continues his theme of migration, through his guests and also his choice of found sound, which both strengthen and deepen “the transitory nature of the record.” Michael Milosh, from the LA group Rhye, for instance, is originally from Canada and recorded his affecting vocal over the harp and beautiful horn work of ‘Break Apart' in a hotel room in Berlin. Green, meanwhile built the structure of the track during a transatlantic flight (another meaning of “Migration” rests in the fact of making large chunks of the record while out on the road). Nick Murphy (formerly known as Chet Faker), on the other hand, is from Australia, but a shared love of disco brought the pair together for the hugely emotive ‘No Reason’. Nicole Miglis of Hundred Waters, originally from Florida, delivers a superbly understated vocal for the glistening textures of ‘Surface’, while Moroccan band Innov Gnawa, based in New York, make up the last of the vocals, offering real grit and beauty to the housey shuffle of ‘Bambro Koyo Ganda’. Additionally, Green has used a sampler (“but not in a big boomer, wearing a cagoule kind of way.”) and woven found sounds such as an elevator in Hong Kong airport, rain in Seattle, a tumble dryer in Atlanta and a fan boat engine in New Orleans into his intricate sonics. A contemporary of artists of the status of Four Tet, Jon Hopkins and Caribou, Bonobo counts among his famous fans the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Skrillex, Disclosure, Diplo and Warpaint. His 2013 album “The North Borders” went Top 30 in the UK and was number 1 in the electronic charts in both the US and UK. In support of that record, the 12 piece band Green runs played 175 shows worldwide, including two sell outs at the Sydney Opera House, an all-day festival at the Roundhouse and a sold out show at Alexandra Palace plus a number of high profile festival slots. Bonobo has built a large, loyal and engaged global fanbase: over half a million album sales and over one hundred and fifty million streams on Spotify point to the levels of success achieved by this quiet, self-effacing man. It might be difficult to imagine it, but “Migration” will take his beautiful, emotive, intricate music to an even bigger audience. After all, the personal can also be universal.

近年〈Slave To You〉和〈I Need Love〉两支大热单曲,无疑透露了Hot Toddy朝Deep House疆域探索的野心,尤其与Ron Basejam合作的后者,弥漫着Downtempo舒缓气息的深沉撩人浩室旋律,更将Hot Toddy个人事业推至巅峰!
Jennifer Rhonwen献声的首发单曲〈Down To Love〉,踩着醇美的Nu- Jazz情调而来,与放克吉他、柔媚人声搅和出令人无法抗拒的浪漫舞韵;Crazy P成员Danielle Moore情义助阵的〈Freekend〉和〈Won't Let Go〉,前着散发80年代神采飞扬的放克骚劲,有着一丝Basement Jaxx风采,而后者流丽通透的Bassline闪烁Synth底蕴,亦深邃唯美着实令人绝倒!

Must is Spanish Producer Pablo Bolivar's third album and is a showcase of his dubby warm house sounds. There are hints of varying styles across the album's 55-minutes but there is also a consistent atmosphere of lush laid back Spanish vibes and very few vocals.
The album opens with the slow moving 'Rise You Demons', a track full of stumbling, echoing drum beats and gentle electronic melodies that captures the feel of a Mediterranean sunset. 'Eleven Years' is the logical next step, a slight shift in gear as the lights come on - a more measured rhythm carrying a similarly contemplative tune.
Must - Pablo Bolivar
With the help of Fabel, Bolivar delivers a sun kissed jazzy piece in 'Off Soft', complete with gorgeously soft percussive remedies and a gently played melodic hook. The jazz influence is retained for the vibe and composition of the slightly moody 'Diamonds', the track here that Pablo sounds most at home on - it's carefully crafted, tight and atmospheric.
Mantra provides the only vocal on 'New Order' - a track similar in feel to 'Diamonds' but the vocal adds little and if anything the track is symptomatic of Must's primary flaw - for all the attempt to vary styles and a measured length it still feels at times like it runs out of places to go. 'Keep Moving' manages to do little more than it's title suggests, a looped groove that pushes some unconstrained rhythms but little else.
But most moments here shine in their own, subtly refined way. Either side of 'Keep Moving' are 'Don't Hold' and 'Heat' - the former using progressive synths and a stomping beat to build an uplifting, funky piece of electronic music. Album closer 'Heat' is a slow ambient track assembled around the sounds of nature, insect noise and bird calls providing the foreground to a subtly emotional conclusion, and again, it's Bolivar at his best.

Tosca's second album 'Suzuki' (Studio K7) takes a lighter, airier approach to the trip-hop terrain that Opera explored. The spare, shimmering title track's delicate synth textures, minimal beats, mellow rhythms, and breathy vocal samples set the tone for the rest of the album's laid-back tracks. Though 'Orozco', 'Bass on the Boat,' and 'Ocean Beat' are more immediate variations on Tosca's relaxed sound, for the most part, 'Suzuki' offers a locked groove of hypnotic, deeply chilled-out epics. This CD has 12 tracks and is packaged in a digipak.

Austrian downtempo duo Tosca — Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber — will present their latest album on October 6. Set for release on !K7, Outta Here includes contributions from vocalists Earl Zinger and Cath Coffey.
Obligatory press release gush from Rupert Huber: “The title stands for change, a change to the concept we’ve had so far. It refers to a change in energy and dynamic. We’ve been known for an almost ambient sound. The new songs are much more beat-oriented and direct. Basically, it’s just a lot more energetic.”
