Planet Mu will release Dark Energy, Jlin's debut full-length album, on March 26th.
The Gary, Indiana-based producer first appeared on Planet Mu's Bangs and Work Vol. 2 in 2011, contributing two singles—"Erotic Heat" and "Asylum"—to the compilation. She will return to the label in March with an 11-track album, which is the latest in a series of footwork LPs that includes RP Boo, Traxman and Young Smoke. Dark Energy also features RVNG experimentalist Holly Herndon, who contributed to the track "Expand," which you can listen to below.
"This album took my entire life to make," Jlin says. "Every moment in my life lead up to this album. My musical sense of expression comes from sadness, and anger. I can't create from a happy place. It seems pointless in my opinion."

A powerful, multi-faceted beast, packed with the most aggressively dancefloor-focussed music Hopkins has ever made, Immunity is about achieving euphoric states through music. Inspired by the arc of an epic night out, the album peaks with Collider, a huge, apocalyptic, techno monster and dissolves with the quiet, heartbreakingly beautiful closer, Immunity, a track featuring vocals from King Creosote which could sit comfortably alongside the gems of their Mercury-nominated collaboration, Diamond Mine.
Immunity is a confident, dramatic record defined by an acute sense of physicality and place.It feels like the hypnotic accompaniment to a journey of creativity, a trip inside Hopkins’ mind, using analog synthesis alongside manipulations of physical, real-world sounds to make dance music that feels as natural and unforced as possible.

Nicolás Jaar and Dave Harrington return with a meticulous work of unexpected and even unprecedented familiarity—less a portal than a kiosk existing entirely within the boundaries set by their 2013 debut.

First collaboration of multifaceted electronic artists MONOLOG (“an impressively detailed assault on the senses” TEXTURA) and SUBHEIM (“Sometimes gloomy, and sometimes lush, but always sweeping and atmospheric” INTRO).
With ‘Conviction’, Monolog and Subheim merge two worlds together by using the same creative triggers: Berlin's night sky, the urban scenery, faces and places, action and reaction, the calm before the storm as well as the storm itself.
Monolog brings structure with with his unique, unforgiving drum rhythms and heavy basslines while Subheim contributes fragile melodic undertones and lush ambiences to the whole.
’Conviction’ is intentionally imperfect. It symbolizes the acceptance of its creators’ very human nature: sometimes relentless and sometimes serene, a calm force that thrusts them forward like sea waves in winter. ‘Conviction’ is dark and heavy yet full of light and hope, expressing the closing of important chapters and the beginning of new ones.

Autechre return with their 14th studio album, SIGN. SIGN is comprised of 11 songs with a runtime of 65 minutes & 32 seconds.

In 1999, on December 23 to be precise, the electronic music landscape changed forever. On that day, the now legendary Icelandic band múm released their debut album “Yesterday Was Dramatic – Today Is OK”. The thing is though, back in the day, hardly anybody realized. It was Christmas after all, people were busy with potentially more important things and didn’t pay attention to some kids selling records on Reykjavík’s high street. Little did those shoppers know.
Thankfully, those 10 tracks weren’t overlooked for long. On the contrary: the album went on to become one of the most influential building blocks of what back then was called electronica and today is considered an art form playing a crucial and important role in shaping and defining the rich electronic music culture of the 21st century. Now, 20 years after the record dropped onto planet Earth, Morr Music is re-issuing the remastered album with its original artwork, adding newly commissioned re-works: A note-for-note representation of “Smell Memory“ by Kronos Quartet (with additional drums by múm’s Samuli Kosminen), a gentle reinterpretation of “Random Summer” by acclaimed pianist and composer Hauschka and an otherworldly new version of “Ballad Of The Broken String” recorded by label mate Sóley. Additionally, four remixes produced in the early 2000s are made available for the first time ever on vinyl here.
In 1999, electronic music was in full bloom. The dance floors were thriving worldwide.Yet the concept of using electronic sounds in acoustic-based productions (or vice versa) was still in its infancy. Many producers were trying, most of them failed. The results felt often forced, fabricated, unimaginative, random and forgettable. New ideas require new mindsets after all. With “Yesterday Was Dramatic – Today Is OK”, múm established a new approach in music production. Instead of setting a fixed agenda and working with a distinct hierarchy for their sonic palette, Gyða Valtýsdóttir, Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir, Gunnar Örn Tynes and Örvar Smárason let each instrument and sound source be true to itself, creating an ever-evolving universe of sonic bliss. Listening to the album in 2019 still makes every music lover’s heart jump. Combining Drill-and-Bass-inspired beat-chopping, future-informed DSP-programming, ethereal vocal work, indie rock’s boominess, folk music’s soulful brittleness and a lofty feeling for melody and arrangement, the album is a rare example of musical transcendence and remains impossible to categorize.
Many of the ideas formulated and recorded for the album quickly became an integral part of the canonical self-conception musicians around the world were and still are aspiring to. How these ideas really came about, though, is not known – the dynamics, the struggles, the qualms, the sudden realization of having achieved something which might actually stick. Maybe that is a good thing. Örvar Smárason remembers that most of the album “was recorded in a tiny, sweaty room in the summer of 1999 with carpenters banging nails around us, but sometimes we put on headphones so we couldn’t hear them.” It is a good thing they did. As is often the case with classics, all one can do is listen closely and let the magic sink in – again and again.

Special Request drops the fourth and final album of 2019. Concentrating purely on the heavyweight original hardcore ethos of taking whatever you want from anywhere, these tracks are made for shelling down dances and losing your marbles.
Those who have been paying close attention will recognise the face-melting drum treatments from those instagram clips, constructed using purpose-built equipment and a healthy amount of irreverence.
Elsewhere we find clock mechanisms worked into the layers of various tracks, the voices of Francis Bacon, David Lynch and others & eventually one such clock speeding up to oblivion, merely hinting at where Special Request is taking you next...

Bedroom Tapes is comprised solely of lost material from a recently discovered box of cassettes that emerged in the process of a house move. These tracks capture some of Paul Woolford’s most wide-eyed and naïve creative impulses at a tender age.Seemingly lost forever, some were part of sessions that led to him being siged to now-defunct UK techno imprint Blue Basique. This is the first chapter in this archive and an intimate portrait of the artist at a key stage of his creative development.
The tracks have been carefully mastered with a loving hand by Matt Colton who has been meticulous to retain their idiosyncrasies.

Anthony Gonzalez, AKA M83 mastermind, released Digital Shades Vol. 1 in 2007 as a compendium of unused ambient tracks for diehard fans to enjoy rather than letting these works disappear into the void. It was a way to breathe life into songs that normally would not see the light of day as well as a vehicle for Gonzalez to explore areas of musical creativity separated from the pop-leaning M83 studio albums. Gonzalez credits Brian Eno’s ambient collections as a primary inspiration for the creation of the Digital Shades series.
Now, twelve years after the initial instalment, M83 has returned with the latest instalment of Digital Shades - one that adopts a grander nature and seeks to transport listeners to another time and place entirely. DSVII is influenced heavily by early video game soundtracks, ‘80s sci-fi/fantasy films and analog synth pioneers such as the aforementioned Brian Eno in addition to Suzanne Ciani, Mort Garson and John Carpenter.
