Coming from the Tunisian alternative music scene, Deena works to inject a dose of innovation and experimentation in Electro Dance Music. By combining urban rhythms and personal touch, it offers avant-garde music particularly energetic.

Their submerged "scuba" sound, presented in dark tone colors and reverberating to infinity, is now instantly identifiable as one of the 'soundmarks' of Berlin club culture. Just as importantly, it is still a palpable aftershock of a pre-millenial genre explosion that saw deep dub, shimmering post-rock, abstract hip-hop and art-damaged noise all drinking from the same well of inspiration. For proof of Porter Ricks' enduring legacy, look no further than the fact that "dub techno" is now a stylistic movement that has expanded far beyond the confines of Berlin and the Basic Channel / Chain Reaction label alliance (where Mellwig's mastering skills also played a starring role). Lurid traces of PR's aesthetic can now be found in the work of producers like Andy Stott and Miles Whittaker, showing the potential for the duo's unique 'aquatic' techniques to be applied to a variety of different musical contexts. Their new LP on Tresor, Anguilla Electrica, may be their first full-length release in seventeen full years, but it radiates with confidence and with a clarity and intensity rarely seen in a world so oversaturated with communications noise. It's made clear at once that it's a continuation of a sonic ideal rather than a tribute to what has already been achieved: the duo is not idly sitting back while their newer acolytes do their talking for them.

A powerful, multi-faceted beast, packed with the most aggressively dancefloor-focussed music Hopkins has ever made, Immunity is about achieving euphoric states through music. Inspired by the arc of an epic night out, the album peaks with Collider, a huge, apocalyptic, techno monster and dissolves with the quiet, heartbreakingly beautiful closer, Immunity, a track featuring vocals from King Creosote which could sit comfortably alongside the gems of their Mercury-nominated collaboration, Diamond Mine.
Immunity is a confident, dramatic record defined by an acute sense of physicality and place.It feels like the hypnotic accompaniment to a journey of creativity, a trip inside Hopkins’ mind, using analog synthesis alongside manipulations of physical, real-world sounds to make dance music that feels as natural and unforced as possible.

“Under Darkening Skies is an album that’s connecting different dots in my life, representing phases or moments I went through. I wanted to go back to writing actual songs again instead of adding vocals to a beat, which gave me the freedom to express more musical facets of myself. Eventually it became the most diverse record I have made so far, influenced by a time of global social and economic uncertainty at an ever-increasing tempo of change, like a dark cloud approaching.”

Wyatt D. Stevens describes his latest record as "wild edits and some big tunes to party to until the end of time." As MoMA Ready, he's become one of New York's go-to party rockers—he plays all around town, at all kinds of events, with the workhorse hustle of a reliable local DJ. He's also a prolific producer. On Bandcamp, he's dropped four releases—each ranging from five to 20 tracks—in the last year alone. Spanning fizzy jungle, rave throwbacks, hip-hop and raucous house, some records have had a theme, while others were data dumps of raw, unmastered tracks. The NYC Dance Project, his latest release, feels more well-rounded and has a straightforward mission: to showcase old-school house music. Over nine tracks, Stevens taps into house's most recognizable tropes and makes dance floor gold out of them.
The production on The NYC Dance Project has a raw, upfront style that recalls the DIY vibe of the earliest house records. That's a big part of why it rules. 
The album centers on three similarly named tracks, "This Version May Save Lives," "This Version May Heal" and "This Version May Go Off." They all draw from the one source that never seems to get old: First Choice's "Let No Man Put Asunder." You might think that there's nothing to be gleaned from a track that feels like it's been sampled countless times, but Stevens' rushing strings and drums makes those vocal snippets—"I got something for your mind, your body and your soul"—feel exhilarating once more.
If Stevens is conversant with house music history, he also seems to be in dialogue with himself. Take "This Version May Heal"—this feverish filter house cut features a piano line that complements the vocal lead in the preceding track, "I Miss Your Love." Here, he works with the building blocks of house music and assembles them in different configurations, from vocal-heavy tracks to instrumental stunners like the synthy closer, "The Concept," which shows off some of the more ethereal vibes of his other work. Every tune is an attempt at making the perfect house floor filler, each coming from a different angle.
What The NYC Dance Project lacks in novelty it makes up for in sheer force of will. Stevens has proven he can produce almost any kind of dance music, but it's the focus on house that makes The NYC Dance Project stand out. On his stellar collaborative EP with fellow New Yorker AceMo, released last month, Stevens made classic house and jungle seem shiny and new. The NYC Dance Project is, on the other hand, is good house music made with a faithful touch and an irreverent streak.
