Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space is the third studio album by English space rock band Spiritualized, released on 16 June 1997.

Hozier is the eponymous debut studio album from Irish singer-songwriter Hozier. The album was announced on June 24 and released on Island Records and Rubyworks Records. The album contains some tracks from Hozier's previous two EPs, Take Me to Church and From Eden. The album was available to pre-order in Europe upon its announcement with North American and Australian pre-order dates from July 2014.

Marketa Irglova is gearing up for the release of her second solo album—Muna—on September 23 via Anti-. Marketa and Glen Hansard, who together are The Swell Season, both starred and performed their music in the treasured film Once, for which they won an Academy Award for the song “Falling Slowly.” The film, and their music, have since been translated to Once the Musical where it went on to win 8 Tony Awards and is currently still running both on Broadway and touring the world.
For Muna, Marketa wrote an ethereal 11 songs over the course of a year and recorded it in Iceland (where Marketa now resides with her new baby girl) within six months with producer/engineer Sturla Mio Thorisson at the helm.
“I had been to Iceland for the first time with the Swell Season,” Marketa says. “I fell in love with it then and was sad to leave, although I knew someday something would bring me back. I am inspired by the open space, the wilderness of the nature, the strong energy coming from the land. There is a harmony, a balance, something that allows for a freer flow of creativity. It is easier to be one with oneself and one with everything and everyone around. This makes for better art, in my opinion.” Muna (“remember” in Icelandic, is a recurring theme throughout the breath of the album).
Muna features 27 musicians, utilizing full choral, string and percussion pieces, plus guests Rob Bochnik (The Frames), Iranian daf player and vocalist Aida Shahghasemi, as well as Marketa’s sister Zuzi on backing vocals. Inspiration for the album partially came from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar and a trilogy of books written by Neale Donald Walsh titled Conversations With God. Marketa recalls, “I believe God speaks through us in many ways, beginning with simple acts of kindness and ending with pieces of art that inspire millions for generations. All that matters is to try and get in touch with that part of ourselves and trust that which comes forth. I tried to that with this record.”

In the Flat Field was released on 3 November 1980 by record label 4AD. It was met with a negative response from critics, but topped the UK Independent Albums Chart and made the UK Albums Chart for one week, peaking at No. 72.
The album was first released on CD by 4AD in April 1988, with eight bonus tracks including three non-album singles: "Dark Entries", "Terror Couple Kill Colonel" and a cover of T. Rex's "Telegram Sam." Five of these bonus tracks had been previously compiled on the 4AD EP in 1983.
On 19 October 2009, 4AD/Beggars Banquet reissued the album as an "Omnibus Edition", featuring the 24-bit John Dent remastered CD of the original nine-track album in a replica mini-LP sleeve (with corresponding inner sleeve featuring the lyrics), plus a 16-track bonus disc of singles, outtakes, alternate recordings and original versions. The set came inside a semi-long box, coupled with a 48-page book that included comments from band members, photos, complete lyrics, complete tour date information for 1979 and 1980, and an essay by Andrew Brooksbank on the formation and creation of the band, the singles and the album.

The follow-up to 2010’s Transference, They Want My Soul is due out August 5th via Spoon’s new record label, Loma Vista. The album marks the band’s first album featuring an outside producer, as they worked alongside Joe Chiccarelli (My Morning Jacket, Beck, The Strokes) and Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev) over the course of their recording sessions.

Pulp's much-anticipated follow up to Different Class seemed, at the time, to disappoint those who'd expected more of Jarvis Cocker's turbulent kitchen-sink scenarios. Instead, in This Is Hardcore the band dished up 12 tracks of introspective claustrophobia based around the fall-out of the dramas they'd previously essayed, as well as Cocker's own double-edged popularity. Most of the tracks have hints of sleazy sex - the title track and the sublime highlight "Seductive Barry" being the most overt - but the perils of being the ageing partygoer are equally realized in "Party Hard" and the opener "The Fear". Likewise, the music is suitably ominous; possibly due to guitarist Russell Senior's departure, there's plenty of dense soundtrack moments and plenty of electronic flourishes that complement the mood well.
That's not to say it's all doom and gloom; the broken-hearted man about the house in "TV Movie" or the cathartic "The Day After The Revolution" are both classics. Indeed the only real mis-step is the lengthy running time. The bonus disc collects all of the excellent B-sides from the singles, most notably the essential "Ladies Man" and "The Professional", and while the unreleased demos aren't as enticing as those on the concurrent reissues, they'll certainly be well received from Pulp's ever-loyal fanbase. --Thom Allott
