MGMT is a psychedelic synthpop group formed in 2002 in Brooklyn, NY. The band consists of multi-instrumentalists Andrew VanWyngarden (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and Ben Goldwasser (vocals, keyboards, synths, drums), both alumni of Wesleyan University.

"One More Time" is a song by French electronic music duo Daft Punk, first released as a single on 30 November 2000 and later included in the 2001 album Discovery. It is a French house song featuring a vocal performance by Romanthony that is heavily Auto-Tuned and compressed. The music video of the song forms part of the 2003 animated film, Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem.
"One More Time" was a moderate commercial success, charting at number one on the Syndicat National de l'Édition Phonographique, number 2 on the UK Singles Chart, and is one of the duo's few charting songs in the United States, reaching number 61 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In addition to commercial success, "One More Time" was also a critical hit. The song has also received multiple accolades. The song is listed at number 5 on Pitchfork's top 500 songs of the 2000s. Rolling Stone listed it at number 33 of their top 100 songs of the decade (2000–2009) as well as number 307 on its amended "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time" list in May 2010. It was voted by Mixmag readers as the greatest dance record of all time. Also, "One More Time" was ranked at number 11 on the prestigious The Village Voice's Pazz & Jop annual year-end critics' poll.

When Dire Straits formed in 1977 they produced music which was different from the punk and stadium rock which surrounded them, creating a stripped back, cleanly produced, guitar based sound. At first their debut Dire Straits (1978) looked set to bomb, but it was championed by the label and eventually went platinum across Europe, helped in part by the memorable single “Sultans of Swing”.

Skid Row is the debut album from the American heavy metal band Skid Row, released on January 24, 1989. The album is certified 5x Platinum by the RIAA. The album spawned the top 10 singles "18 and Life" and "I Remember You" and the Mainstream rock hit "Youth Gone Wild". It is the band's most commercially successful album. It went on to sell over 10 million copies worldwide, including 5 million in the United States alone.

"The Sound of Silence" is the song that propelled the 1960s folk music duo Simon & Garfunkel to popularity. It was written in February 1964 by Paul Simon in the aftermath of the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy. An initial version preferred by the band was remixed and sweetened, and has become known as "the quintessential folk rock release". In the U.S., it was the duo's second most popular hit after "Bridge Over Troubled Water".
The song features Simon on acoustic guitar and both singing. It was originally recorded as an acoustic piece for their first album Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. in 1964 but on the initiative of the record company's producer, Tom Wilson, it was later overdubbed with drums (Bobby Gregg), electric bass (Bob Bushnell) and electric guitar (Al Gorgoni), all without the knowledge or participation of Simon & Garfunkel and rereleased as a single in September 1965.[3][4] The single reached number one on New Year's Day 1966 and was included in the 1966 album Sounds of Silence.
"The Sound of Silence" was originally called "The Sounds of Silence" and is titled that way on the early albums in which it appeared and on the first single release; only on later compilations was it retitled "The Sound of Silence". Both the singular and the plural appear in the lyrics. In his book Lyrics 1964–2008 Simon has the title in the singular.
