My retrospective EP featuring B-Sides from the production of Atlas.
"Maverick" is my love letter to Top Gun, Harold Faltermeyer and Steve Stevens. It was originally written between 2016 and 2017 to be part of a post-Atlas EP that never got finished due to family/day-job commitments. To avoid the track gathering more dust, I've decided to release it into the wild as a spiritual extension of the Atlas universe.
“Atlas (Original)” was written on New Year’s Eve 2015 when I was back home in Scotland visiting family for Christmas. I get a lot of questions asking if there was ever a full version of “Atlas (Interlude)”. This is it. It didn’t fit the overall vibe of the album, so I cut it down to an interlude. This track lives in its own space. A moment in time between the Los Angeles EP and Atlas (album).
“Fade (Running in the Night)” was written in February 2016 during the Atlas album sessions. This is the instrumental track which later became “Running in the Night”. The extended live version of “Running in the Night” featured lots of melodic moments from Fade, which didn’t fit into the final vocal track. This track is a spiritual companion to Running in the Night.
“Breathe (2011 Demo)” was written in 2011, long before I started producing music as FM-84. It was my love letter to Tangerine Dream and Ulrich Schnauss. I wrote it just before I moved from Scotland to California.
