Letters and Other Texts is the third and final volume of the posthumous texts of Gilles Deleuze, collected for publication in French on the twentieth anniversary of his death. It contains several letters addressed to his contemporaries (Michel Foucault, Pierre Klossowski, François Châtelet, and Clément Rosset, among others). Of particular importance are the letters addressed to Félix Guattari, which offer an irreplaceable account of their work as a duo from Anti-Oedipus to What is Philosophy? Later letters provide a new perspective on Deleuze's work as he responds to students' questions. his volume also offers a set of unpublished or hard-to-find texts, including some essays from Deleuze's youth, a few unusual drawings, and a long interview from 1973 on Anti-Oedipus with Guattari.

Cómo se lee esto? Hay que hacer una experimentación e ir obteniendo un método. "Siempre se trata de flujos", dice Deleuze. ¿Qué hacer con ese enunciado para que no se vuelva de sujeto a sujeto? Partiendo del convencimiento de que "Edipo no sirve absolutamente para nada", Deleuze y Guattari se impregnan de la atmósfera cultural del período, en especial del Foucault de Las palabras y las cosas, y afirman que la invención del hombre por el orden burgués de que habla este último puede comprenderse mejor a partir del análisis de los mecanismos de producción del hombre en la sociedad actual, es decir, a partir de la disección de la máquina social capitalista que los autores acometen mediante el procedimiento de descodificación-territorialización. No en vano se ha afirmado repetidas veces la complementariedad de algunos capítulos de El Anti Edipo y Las palabras y las cosas, y no en vano la obra de Deleuze y Guattari contribuyó a la gestación de Vigilar y castigar. A partir de ahí, de esa época de ebullición teórica reflejada en el texto, El Anti Edipo se convertiría en una referencia clásica y el esquizoanálisis -que se propone desedipizar el inconsciente para acceder a los verdaderos problemas- en un método fecundo para analizar las máquinas deseantes y sus productos sociales.
