Recorded in the first quarter of 2008, mixed by Evil Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age), mastered by the legendary George Marino (Metallica, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin) at Sterling Sound, Vertebrae was produced by band members Ivar Bjørnson, Herbrand Larsen, and Grutle Kjellson themselves.

Considered by all band members to be their strongest album in the seventeen years of their existence, Vertebrae's sound, songs, seasoned guitar tone and time-travelling solos and overall atmosphere marks a crowning achievement for the band and the genre as a whole.

After spending $99 on a guitar and amp at Walmart, he collaborated with songwriters Boots Ottestad (Robbie Williams, Tim McGraw) Edie Kuhnle (Thomas Dybdahl) and Nate Campany (The Click Five).
In Virginia, and later in New York, they created magic in the form of simple chords, meaningful lyrics and a tape recorder.

Birds Of Passage is a wonderful release. A huge assortment of acoustic and wind instruments were brought in to support the computer synthesis of Nils and vocal incantations of Anneli. Geir is back with some of the keyboards and programming again and many others join the trio in the studio to bring instruments like the flugelhorn, viola, cello, clarinet and more. Live drums were even used. But though all of these instruments and a half dozen more people than W-O C are included here, the sound is still wonderfully arranged while deliciously complicated. Melody A.M. is the debut studio album by Norwegian electronic music duo Röyksopp, released on 3 September 2001 by Wall of Sound. Songs from this album have been used in television adverts and computer games; "Remind Me" was formally featured in an advertisement for GEICO Insurance in one of their popular Caveman ads, while "Eple" was licensed by Apple and used as the introduction music for the Mac OS X v10.3 setup assistant. The Silicone Soul remix of "Poor Leno" was featured in the soundtrack to the 2003 snowboarding video game SSX 3. "So Easy" was the soundtrack of T-Mobile's launch advert featuring the face of a baby appearing around places in a city.
