Whilst Hotel Neon’s debut album was born of chaos and strife, “Remnants” is a tribute to sentiment - a nostalgic reflection on memories, inspired by a road trip to Iceland in 2015.
The album also sees a marked development in the group’s sound: the addition of Steven Kemner to twin brothers Andrew and Michael Tasselmyer fills textured corners with robust intricacy. Their circumnavigation of the Ring Road is filled with longing for bygone memories, field recordings and layers of texture from a wide variety of sources.
Mastered with arctic clarity by Taylor Deupree, 'Remnants' is old- school Fluid drone with a melodic heart.

2010 EP, the sophomore release from the New York experimental popsters. 'The Other Side of Your Face' opens with a whip of grey wind and a throbbing hum. Drums count off and shimmering guitar chords gently descend; vocalist Andrea Estella's voice comes in and things hush up real quick. 'Lady Daydream' introduces herself with Eric Cardona's guitar glimmer, the melody beckoning cool and soft and sure before 'Milk And Honey' initiates total pandemonium--all of a sudden it's a packed house-party in the clouds. 'All Around And Away We Go' continues with Gabe D'Amico's insistent bass lines bouncing along orange-lava synths and barking vocals--pure uninhibited bliss. By now it's dark outside, and the silver heavens reflect down on 'Galaxy Plateau'. Udbhav Gupta's keys and drum machines come into bright focus and 'Phenomenons' scores the tranquil descent into the landscape of a pink morning sky. Was it all a dream?

Singing Saw is a record written simply and realized orchestrally. In it, Kevin Morby faces the reality that true beauty - deep and earned - demands a whole-world balance that includes our darker sides. It is a record of duality, one that marks another stage of growth for this young, gifted songwriter with a kind face and a complicated mind. Morby opens Singing Saw with "Cut Me Down", a song of tears, debts and a prescient vision of being reduced to nothing. "I Have Been to the Mountain", "Destroyer" and "Black Flowers" continue to explore beauty and freedom, seizing upon the rot that seeps into even the supposedly safest of realms; peace, family and romantic love. By the end of the record on "Water", Morby is literally begging to be put out once and for all, like a fire that might burn all the visions away. Travels beyond his mountain walks, near his Mount Washington home in Los Angeles, inform songs like "Dorothy", which recounts a trip to Portugal, witnessing a fishing ritual and luxuriating in the aura of a bar light-tinged reunion with old friends. The touching innocence of "Ferris Wheel" stands alone in stark simplicity amidst the lush sonic textures of the album. Here, the album is balanced by Morby's signature sweetness and joie de vivre. In the end, Morby fulfills the promise many heard on his first two albums, bringing his most realized effort of songwriting and lyricism to fruition. The songs of Singing Saw reflect the clarity that comes from welcoming change and embracing duality, and the distillation of those elements into an entirely new vision.

Deap Vally, the Los Angeles duo comprising of Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards, return with their new album 'Femejism' Produced by Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, it features tracks ranging from experimental prog and kraut-rock to good old- fashioned heart-melters and ball-busters.
Deap Vally recently completed major North American tours with Peaches and with Wolfmother during which they aired a number of new songs from the upcoming album live for the first time.

Sleigh Bells is back, and just in time for the season of heat. Since releasing three brief, thunderous, sweetly abrasive albums between 2010 and 2013, the noise-pop duo of Alexis Krauss and Derek Miller have put out next to no new music, but as today's self-released single “Rule Number One” demonstrates, they've hardly been silent, let alone stagnant. The band has always been justly renowned for splicing genres together; their new song sounds like two or three separate songs, each with a distinct rhythm, melody, and volume, set at strange yet somehow un-awkward angles to one another.

El Pintor is the fifth studio album by American rock band Interpol. It will be released on September 8, 2014 internationally and on September 9, 2014 in North America, through Matador Records. Self-produced by the band and recorded at Electric Lady Studios and Atomic Sound in New York City, the album was engineered by James Brown, who is known for his work for Foo Fighters, and mixed by Alan Moulder, who is known for his production and mixing work for My Bloody Valentine, The Smashing Pumpkins and Nine Inch Nails.
The album title, which means "the painter" in Spanish, is an anagram of Interpol. It is the band's first album without bassist Carlos Dengler, who departed the band after the release of the band's eponymous album in 2010. The bass duties on the album were taken over by frontman Paul Banks. The album features guest appearances by Brandon Curtis of Secret Machines, Roger Joseph Manning, Jr. and Rob Moose of Bon Iver. The band will be embarking a summer tour in accompaniment with the album.

Portland's oldest existing doom metal band, Witch Mountain has an interesting history leading up to the present day. Formed in 1997 by guitarist Rob Wrong (Iommi Stubbs, ex-M99) and drummer Nathan Carson (Point Line Plane, Two Ton Boa, SUNN0))) collaborator), the group released their debut album .Come the Mountain to critical acclaim in 2001. In those years, Witch Mountain was a live staple in the Northwest and on the national circuit, touring with Weedeater and Spirit Caravan and gigging with the likes of Lost Goat, Bongzilla, Goatsnake, High on Fire, Orange Goblin, Electric Wizard, YOB, Unsane, EyeHateGod, Alabama Thunderpussy, Clutch, Sour Vein, Isis, Soilent Green, Raging Slab, Warhorse, Agalloch, Thrones, etc., etc. A period of hibernation ensued until 2009 when the group resurfaced with front-woman Uta Plotkin, whose unmistakable, soaring vocal style has prompted critics to describe Witch Mountain as what Black Sabbath would sound like if fronted by Janis Joplin. Sophomore album South of Salem, recorded with mega-producer Billy Anderson in 2010 and initially self-released on vinyl only, garnered exceptional press from Decibel magazine all the way to NPR (who dubbed it the #4 metal album of the year) and beyond. With activity in the Witch Mountain camp currently at its peak, it's no surprise that the long-awaited Cauldron of the Wild is easily the band's mightiest release to date. Plotkin's unparalleled vocals are at the height of their powers and the band (now featuring new bass player Neal Munson) delivers their heaviest, darkest and most soulful release yet. Cauldron of the Wild will serve to bringing proper recognition and awareness to this veteran American doom metal band."
