The Invitation To The Voyage is the second full-length from Eugene McGuinness and his most powerfully conceived and fully realised artistic statement to date. Recorded with the dual assistance of producers Clive Langer (Madness, Elvis Costello, Morrissey) and Dan Carey (MIA, Hot Chip, Santigold), it's an unabashedly bombastic, brave and above all, thoroughly contemporary update on a distinctly English strand of lyrical, gently fantastical pop songwriting that locates and celebrates the beautiful and the bizarre in modern life.

Deerhoof will release their new album Breakup Song September 4 in the U.S. via Polyvinyl. It's also out September 3 in the UK and Europe via ATP, Australia and Oceania via Lost and Lonesome, and China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia via High Note. A cassette release will be available in a run of 250 from Joyful Noise.

The Haunted Man is the upcoming third studio album by English recording artist Bat for Lashes. It is set to be released on 15 October 2012 by Parlophone.[1] In May 2010, Bat for Lashes stated that although she had enough songs to put out as an album, she wanted to take more time working on new material as she had been on tour for so long and found it boring to write songs about being on tour.[2] The album was preceded by the lead single "Laura", which was released on 24 July 2012.[3]
The album's artwork was photographed by American photographer Ryan McGinley,[4] and features Bat for Lashes naked carrying an equally naked man on her back.[1] Bat for Lashes told the NME: "I really wanted to strip things back in honour of women like Patti Smith; just these raw, honest women. I had no make-up on, it's just me and my haunted man!"

Led by vocalist Nic McKenzie and bassist Nick Weaver, the band combine their love of 60’s beat, surf and psychedelic rock with 80’s new wave, Madchester and trip hop. The pair, friends since meeting at high school in Sydney, penned dozens of songs and experimented with every sort of sound in their bedroom before finding their perfect counterparts in drummer Carlos Adura and guitarists Simon Relf and Tim Chamberlain.
On the surface they are many things, but it’s what lurks beneath that makes this band so exciting. Deep Sea Arcade plan to release their debut mini-album entitled If The Devil Won’t Take You in the coming months.
The best songs are 'Lonely in Your Arms' and 'Don't Be Sorry', both of which had been previously released as singles.
Close behind comes a fantastic new song called 'Steam'. The rest is pleasant but not as captivating as their earlier songs.

Mates of State touch on so much of what has been great in the last 50 years of pop music, all viewed through the Mates of State filter. Most of all, they have actually built their own sound. They sound like themselves. I hear palomino and it sounds like quintessential Mates of State. Sometimes I hear a new band and think 'What a Mates Of State rip-off!' They have been carving out their place in the indie rock world since the late 90s, as two people playing complex songs that sound like five people playing a simple song. That is what the great ones can do.

Vidal was born in Santa Barbara, California, moved at an early age to Brooklyn, New York, and then to Ithaca, New York where she began studying violin. She started her first band, an all-girl punk group, while a student at Ithaca High School. Her band, Kiev (later changed to Kievan Rus to avoid name conflicts with a California band of the same name), played in two Warped Tour events,and toured briefly with Bad Religion, Anti-Flag, and Gogol Bordello. Bad Religion's Greg Graffin took an early interest in the band, and produced their EP Kievan Rus.
The band was cast in a series of Coca-Cola commercial called "Girl Band" directed by cinematographer Lance Acord that aired in 2005.Mike Viola provided lyrics and musical direction for the commercials, but 'Kiev's' music was used for the series of ads. Various articles referenced the Coke ad highlighting the DIY attitude of the band, the documentary style used by Acord for the Coke "Real" campaign, and the ironic juxtaposition of a real "girl band" in an advertisement being more "real" than the reality TV show "American Idol" during which it aired.
Vidal started a new project, Your Kid Sister, while an art student at Concordia University in Montreal. Your Kid Sister began as an homage to Rancid, her favorite punk band, and she covered Rancid songs in the persona of Tim Armstrong's fictional younger sister. Rancid's ...And Out Come the Wolves was a major influence and during the Your Kid Sister project, Vidal always performed while wearing a wolf hat. Her music video for the song, "Poison", was made during a summer class at Cornell University taught by animator Lynn Tomlinson.
In 2009, Vidal moved to Barcelona and began writing new material while continuing to perform Rancid covers as Your Kid Sister, and playing in other bands. She independently released the album 'Poison: 5 Rancid Songs That I Love' in 2010.

Toronto indie pop outfit the Elwins have already generated an impressive buzz, but it was all without having released a proper full-len gth record. That album-less career is about to end, though, as the group’s debut LP, And I Thank You, is heading our way on February 21.
