. . . a 1978 Schubert "Unfinished" with the Vienna Philharmonic is testimony enough to his genius, the first movement (with repeat) initially poised on a nerve's edge, tremulous and full of energy; the second properly relaxed. Kleiber was one of the few conductors to mark a profound climate change between the two movements, and his benchmark performance contradicts the notion that Schubert's Eighth is a mere torso. It has never sounded more perfectly complete.

The highly anticipated second DG release from Vadim Repin, one of today's most celebrated violinists. Featuring the romantic Violin Concerto and Double Concerto for Violin and Cello. Repin is joined by cellist Truls Mork for the Double Concerto. Riccardo Chailly conducts the Gewandhausorchester-- the same orchestra which premiered the Violin Concerto in 1879.

《管弦乐协奏曲》为巴托克最著名的作品之一，是在他去世前两年完成的。1943年8月，巴托克开始创作他的这部《管弦乐协奏曲》，十月份乐曲总谱即告完成。第二年12月1日，在库塞维斯基的指挥下，《管弦乐协奏曲》由波士顿交响乐队首演于波士顿的交响厅，大获成功。 这部作品不仅具有音乐方面的吸引力， 而且还为技巧娴熟的交响乐队提供了一次大显身手的好机会。
费伦茨•弗里乔伊（Ferenc Fricsay）1941年8月9日出生于布达佩斯，年方15岁就指挥乐团演出，才能过人。从1936年，弗里乔伊在匈牙利南部城市塞格德开始了他的指挥生涯，1938年任布达佩斯歌剧院主要指挥，后升任音乐总监，1945年兼任布达佩斯爱乐乐团指挥。
1947年萨尔茨堡音乐节准备首演艾内姆的歌剧《丹东之死》，指挥克伦姆佩勒突然病倒，费伦茨•弗里乔伊就临时代替他指挥演出，演出大获成功，费伦茨•弗里乔伊就此一举成名。1950年弗里乔伊首次在英国亮相，1953年赴美国首次指挥波士顿交响乐团，1961年在奥地利获教授学位，并著有《莫扎特与巴托克》一书。1963年弗里乔伊2月20日逝世于瑞士。
