Park Hye Jin’s 2018 debut EP, If U Want It, knit together sleek, understated house and brusque hip-hop to great effect. She sang and rapped in both English and her native Korean, throwing out jabbing, chanted phrases in blasé monotone over stubby keyboard loops and no-frills drum programming. Songs like “ABC” and “I Don’t Care” served to demonstrate how much a gifted producer can accomplish with very few ingredients.
Hye Jin was a previously unknown, YouTube-tutorial-taught artist releasing music independently. But her hip-house merger — a combination that has also boosted producer-DJs like Galcher Lustwerk in recent years — quickly earned her fans; three of Hye Jin’s songs now have more than a million streams on Spotify, a sign that her music might be able to reach beyond an underground club audience.
On Tuesday, she released her first new solo single since 2018: “Like This,” which sounds like an army of wind chimes on a shuffling, double-time march. “This lead single has no English lyrics in it at all,” says Ashley Yun, a project manager at Hye Jin’s label, the electronic-focused Ninja Tune. “It’ll be a really good benchmark for how ready society is to hear music that isn’t in English. That prospect is really exciting.” “Like This” precedes Hye Jin’s second EP, How Can I, due out next month.
She taught herself to produce on Ableton, working on the songs that became If U Want It alone at home. “My producing was fucking baby skills,” she says. But she came up with a few songs that she thought displayed variety. “‘ABC’ was more poppy; ‘If U Want It’ was more house, ‘Close Eyes’ was more similar to techno, ‘Call Me’ was ’cause I like hip-hop.” “I Don’t Care” was her crown jewel, a carefully layered track that blooms into a dance-floor missile.
“The way that she sings and raps sounds so accessible, even for people who aren’t Korean,” Yun says. “I am Korean, so I found that extra intriguing. I couldn’t get enough of it when it first came out.”
Yun was not alone. Hye Jin’s music was played by Imran Ahmed, the former A&R for XL Recordings who now has a label with AWAL, on his monthly NTS radio show; her songs briefly popped up on Pollen, a Spotify editorial playlist with an active following. Hye Jin moved quickly to transform that buzz into something more solid by playing numerous gigs around the world.
She was so in demand that when Yun tried to book the producer for a Ninja Tune event last year, there wasn’t any room on her schedule. But the two stayed in contact, and Yun helped spearhead Hye Jin’s signing earlier this year. Hye Jin fits next to labelmates and fellow producer-DJs like Bicep and Floating Points — acts who have managed to win over both committed electronic-music fans and more casual streamers who may only make room for one or two club-wreckers on their playlists.
Hye Jin’s rapid ascent didn’t come without issues. She has been forced to part ways with two managers, firing the second one in January due to the way he handled her finances. “I don’t have money from my first EP,” she claims.
The other challenge stemmed from Hye Jin’s brutal touring schedule. “Tour, tour, tour, tour — it’s not good for me every week,” she explains. “The last place I played I remember [feeling], ‘I can’t play well. I’m fucking exhausted.’ ” Much of her new EP was written on the road “in airports, airplanes, trains, taxis,” a necessary side effect of being a sought-after performer.
But Hye Jin remains cheerfully committed to stardom — “I’m gonna be fuckin’ famous,” she promises — and buoyant about the prospects of How Can I. “When my new EP is released,” she says, “there’s new shit coming to me.”

Yazmin appeared heavily in The Guardian / The Observer's recent extensive feature on the UK's new Jazz movement too.
Initially a Brownswood ‘Future Bubbler’ graduate, Yazmin self-released her debut EP, 'Black Moon', last year. This lead to a Maida Vale session late 2017 with Jordan Rakei, Moses Boyd, Oscar Jerome and now label mates, Children of Zeus. She kicked off the year with a performance at the Worldwide Awards with Skinny Pelembe, and has recently done shows with artists such as Alfa Mist, Ezra Collective, Tall Black Guy and Fatima. Yazmin has a UK tour scheduled for November, as well as several festival appearances across Europe locked in.
There’s a lot more to come from this Notts-based Londoner yet. In Yazmin's words: "'90 Degrees' is about that time of the day / night when there's a shift in pace and energy. When you decide to lock off from the 'outside' world and create your own atmosphere, take some time to give thanks for what's breathing love into your life and smoke off the fuckeries. This is probably the most in demand, heavily sampled and bootleged funk album of all time. Originally Produced by James Brown and released in August 1969, this album has been heavily in demand since the mid 80s. It is issued here along with 4 tracks which were only issued on 7"singles and are also highly sought after in their own right., plus a duet with James Brown 'Sunny' which appeared in the sleeve notes of the original album but was not included in it. The album was actually a collection of 10 singles recorded over a period of 20 months in different studios across the USA. The tracks feature the famous James Brown band, Probably the tightest band of all time including Maceo Parker, Alfred 'Pee Wee'Ellis and St Clair Pinckney (Saxes), Fred Wesley (Trombone), Richard 'Kush' Griffith (Trumpet), Jimmy Nolen (guitar), (Sweet) Charles Sherrell (Bass), Clyde Stubblefield (Drums) amongst others. Marva Whitney was the leading Female singer in the James Brown Revue for 3 years from 1967 to 1969 and toured the USA, Africa and Vietnam (during the War).

⊙专辑为什么要叫《偶遇》
新专辑的名字为什么要叫《偶遇》？其实是有许多故事在里面的。偶遇代表希望，代表愉快的心情，一种乐观积极向上的心态面对生活。偶遇对我自己来讲，这么多年也有许多故事在里面。
我以前学的是跳舞，在偶然的一个机会里面，谢铁骊导演他在照片上看到了我，然后就开始拍戏，然后又偶然碰到了陈凯歌导演，李少红导演……这些都是偶然遇到发生的事情。之后就是因为拍了戏，才有个机会可以自己唱歌、出唱片。这些都是非常偶然的。
然后跟火星电台的相遇，从第一张到第二张，在第二张的时候已经有两年了。还没做这张专辑之前，有一次我和黄少锋聊天，说到生活中有许多偶然发生的事情时，旁边蹲着的曾宇突然转过头来大叫：“对，就叫《偶遇》！”呵呵，于是新专辑的名字就诞生了！
不仅包括我说的偶遇碰到了哪些人，偶遇其实还包括生活中很多偶然遇到的细节：比如说你在马路上走的时候，偶然看到一个看自行车的老太太，那天太阳非常好，照在她身上，她的神情特别的安详，这种神情就会给我留下非常大的印象，因为那种安详是历经了很多之后才会有的淡然。
有一次是我在青岛拍戏，拍戏最后一天我在八大关走，走的时候看到一个坡上有个红色的亭子，里面有一个水泥的桌子和凳子，这时候正好看到一个老先生和一个老太太坐在那休息，我想他们也是在那里散步，偶然来到这儿，坐下来看看海。当中有一个非常让我感动的细节，老先生给老太太剥了一个橘子，这一个举动让我非常感动。我觉得那么长时间了，他们携手走过来，当年纪那么大的时候，还是能够互相疼爱，还是能一起坐在这儿看海。
还有一个非常可爱的事情是发生在我和大齐身上的。我和大齐是很喜欢运动的人。有一次我们两个去买球鞋，买到家里的时候是一双耐克球鞋，鞋舌头上就绣着两个“迅”字。我的名字里有迅字，又是给他买球鞋，这个“迅”字是非常非常偶然的，对我的生活这是一种缘分，也是一个很快乐的一种事情。我们去问了一个对球鞋非常有研究的朋友，他说这是耐克在二三年前设计的一种限量版，一共有两种，一个是“迅迅”，一个是“迅速”，可就让我和大齐碰到了这双鞋子，这是一种偶然碰到的，小小的意外，很大的快乐。
像这种偶然在生活里面太多太多，记得有一次，我打车要回家，我说“师傅，到哪哪哪”我还没说完，他就说到那是吧，我很惊讶，你怎么知道。他说：“我前两天送过你。”我说对对对，我记得你的棒球帽。这种偶然相遇的事情在生活中让我非常快乐。我在遇到大齐之后，生活里有了很大的改变，让我重新充满动力去挑战各种事情。
生活中这种各种各样的偶遇好多好多，其实我就是想透过新专辑告诉大家：一定要留心生活中身边的事情，当你偶然碰到一个人、一只小猫、一片树叶的时候，都会有意想不到的快乐、惊喜和收获。
在这张《偶遇》中，除了已发表的《身未动，心已远》和目前正处于电台推荐的《偶遇》外，有一首歌很吸引人，这首《大齐》是周迅演唱男友李大齐的歌曲。早先就透露这张唱片有一种小女人的幸福感，但拿男友当歌名这在华语歌坛还是极为少见的另类行为。在这首歌中，周迅很甜蜜地唱到“他喜欢穿白衬衫，他的故事就是浪漫。”
对于这首歌，周迅说并不是在炫耀自己的感情，是希望通过这首歌让所有的人都找到自己的“大齐”。而“偶遇”，周迅解释为，偶遇到的一个人、一件事、一个东西，只要好好地珍惜，仔细地感受，都可能带来很大的快乐。而无数的“偶遇”加在一起，就会构成一次完美的人生。周迅平时都是在内地工作，大齐是在台湾工作，两个人见面的机会很少，一般都是选择在香港见面。有一次两人约在一个天桥见面，而大齐的飞机晚点，又赶上堵车，他就下了车，拼了命地向天桥跑。等他看见周迅时，已经累得没有一丝力气了。气喘吁吁的他把从台湾带来的食品盒交给周迅，周迅打开时发现里面还有一个戒指。大齐就帮她把戒指戴上，还告诉她，只要她要求，他可以为她放弃在台湾的全部事业。周迅当时就下定了决心，要和大齐携手走过这一生。
除了《大齐》外，像《什么都不需要》、《小聪明》、《无邪气》、《对你好》等都能体现周迅此时幸福、快乐的心情。在新专辑中，周迅还创作了1分30秒的一段音乐序曲。

How I'm Feeling Now (stylized in all lowercase) is the fourth studio album by English singer and songwriter Charli XCX, it was released on 15 May 2020. The album is a "do-it-yourself" collaborative process with Charli XCX involving her fans in the recording process. The recording and title were inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. In April A. G. Cook and BJ Burton were named as the album's executive producers.

Together was the first and only album released by the duo team of American Motown artists Marvin Gaye & Mary Wells. It was released on Motown's Tamla label on April 15th, 1964. The album brought together the rising star Gaye with Wells, an established star with a number-one pop hit to her name (1964's "My Guy"), in hopes that Gaye would benefit from the exposure.
This album became the first charted album credited to Gaye, peaking at #42 on the Billboard Pop Albums Chart and yielding two Top 20 singles, "Once Upon a Time" and "What's the Matter With You Baby". Shortly afterwards, Wells, who was frustrated with the direction the label wanted her to go, left Motown. The label had to find another duet partner for Gaye, enlisting Kim Weston for one album, (Take Two), but later yielding a longer-lasting paring of Gaye with Tammi Terrell.

While Nico was the member of the Velvet Underground who had had the least experience in music prior to joining the group (while she had recorded a pop single in England, she'd never been a member of a working band before Andy Warhol introduced her to the Velvets), she was also the one who strayed farthest from traditional rock & roll after her brief tenure with the band, and by the time she recorded Desertshore, her work had little (if anything) to do with traditional Western pop. John Cale, who produced and arranged Desertshore, once described the music as having more to do with 20th century classical music than anything else, and while that may be going a bit far to make a point, even compared to the avant-rock frenzy of the Velvet Underground's early material, Desertshore is challenging stuff. Nico's dour Teutonic monotone is a compelling but hardly welcoming vocal presence, and the songs, centered around the steady drone of her harmonium, are often grim meditations on fate that are crafted and performed with inarguable skill and intelligence, but are also a bit samey, and the album's downbeat tone gets to be rough sledding by the end of side two. Cale's arrangements are superb throughout, and "My Only Child," "Afraid," and "The Falconer" are quite beautiful in their own ascetic way, but like the bulk of Nico's repertoire, Desertshore is an album practically designed to polarize its listeners; you'll either embrace it's darkness or give up on it before the end of side one. Then again, given the thoroughly uncompromising nature of her career as a musician, that's probably just what Nico had in mind.

Ntjam Rosie, born as Rosie Boei, is a Dutch-Cameroonian singer/songwriter from Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Her style is a mix of pop music, jazz and soul. She moved to the Netherlands at the age of nine where she grew up in Maastricht.
