S. 巴赫的《意大利协奏曲》，F大调，BWV971，作于1734年，与《法国组曲》合为一集，于1735年作为《古钢琴曲集》第二卷出版，此曲原标题为《按照意大利趣味的协奏曲》(Concerto nach Italienischem Gusto)。在巴赫的时代，意大利 音乐发展之快，对整个欧洲影响极大，巴赫从青年时代起就研究意大利音乐，他采用维瓦尔第的协奏曲形态，尝试在大键琴上表达合奏与主奏的效果。这首作品是为大键琴而创作的，巴赫为二层键盘指定了详细的力度记号，充分展示丰富的合奏效果与富于阴影效果的独奏之间的对比和和声效果。这首作品的一般演奏时间只有15分钟左右，共包括3个乐章：1.速度未予指定，大约是稍快的快板，活泼的主题以合奏方式表现，随后是合奏与独奏的交替表现，最后主题又以合奏方式表现。2.行板，转为D小调，右手旋律模仿小提琴主奏的抒情调，左手始终是数字低音的音型。3.急板，又转回F大调，回旋曲风格，交互配置合奏与主奏，形成复杂而丰富的协奏效果。

这里的贝多芬第三钢琴协奏曲的录音时间是在1957年。卡拉扬和古尔德可谓刚刚步入他们事业的辉煌时期，两人有着较为接近的情绪和精神风貌，合作自然也是一流的水准。要说这个录音有多少出彩的地方，那也未必。但我们可以在第一乐章中听到卡拉扬无比细腻而谦逊的伴奏以及古尔德天马行空的流畅和恣肆。而进入第二乐章的闲庭漫步，我想卡拉扬是所有指挥家中最能给予独奏者以自由发挥空间的一位了，所以我们能听到古尔德的沉思冥想和卡拉扬的宽广音域，两者相得益彰，星月交辉。最后一个乐章自始都以一个较为平淡的速度进行，只有到了尾声部分的最后几个小节，我们才终于等到了卡拉扬异乎寻常的爆发力，这是我听过的所有版本中，最宏大最有气势的结尾了！

The Art of the Piano is a feature-length, 106-minute documentary that presents in refreshingly straightforward fashion a portrait of 20th-century piano playing. The format is simple: short segments on virtually all of the great pianists who have ever been captured on film, augmented by extracts from interviews, sometimes with the pianists themselves, or with later conductors and musicians of international stature, including specially filmed contributions from Daniel Barenboim, Sir Colin Davis, Evgeny Kissin, Gennadi Rozhdestvensky, and Tamás Vásáry. The narration by John Tusa offers an overview of piano music through the century, though the heart of the film is the great quantity of rare archive historic footage, with extracts from performances by Gould, Horowitz, Paderwski, Rachmaninoff, Richter, Rubinstein, and many others. The interviews are short, but offer considerable insight, while the film of so many revered pianists brought together is a literal eye-opener, especially for those who have previously only known these masters from LP and CD.
