【Love For Sale】代表的不僅僅是Tony Bennett與Lady Gaga兩人二度合作，更代表了另一個時代的開始，而他們選擇以此張作品向美國傳奇爵士大師Cole Porter致敬，他在爵士樂史中占有相當重要的地位，其作品跨越性別、國籍、派系、年齡，被重新翻做的次數多到不計其數，舉凡Miles Davis、Chet Baker、Louis Armstrong、Frank Sinatra、Billie Holiday、Ella Fitzgerald等巨星級的爵士音樂家、傳統流行經典歌王歌后都曾翻唱過Cole Porter作品。Tony Bennett也曾在過去個人專輯中翻唱，而Lady Gaga在【Cheek To Cheek】中的獨唱曲“Ev`ry Time We Say Goodbye”亦是Cole Porter的經典歌曲之一。時隔7年，兩人再次合作的爵士專輯，就決定是一張Cole Porter致敬專輯，從他多達1500多首作品中精選10首耳熟能詳的經典歌曲重新演繹，包括“It`s De-Lovely”、“Love for Sale”、“I Get A Kick Out Of You”、“Night and Day”、“Let`s Do It”、“Just One of Those Things”、“So In Love”等劃時代的作品，讓人透過Tony Bennett與Lady Gaga極具特色的爵士韻味，重新體會上個世紀、距今將近100年前的傳奇美好；【Love For Sale】紀錄一段重要的音樂傳承，見證一個傳奇的引退，同時看到另一個傳奇持續發光發熱，更看到遠古的音樂巨匠在音樂中重生，可以說是本世紀最重要的一張作品。

A fantastic independent LP by the small local San Francisco-based Courtial! This is one of the records that has the "all killer no filler" tag all over it, even though its standout track is probably "Losing You", a fierce funky-latiney-rockish little number with a storming piano break in the intro that you might know from a compilation (Keb Darge, California Soul).
Courtial was founded by guitarist Bill Courtial & conga man Pete "Coke" Escovedo, with Errol Knowles on vocals. And believe me even with their middle-ages minstrel outfits they can hold a groove! A great feature of the record is the presence of a funky quirky keyboard that you can hear on the title track snippet. A gem of an album, and a real grower—repeated listens advised.

The next one on my you-must-hear-now list is from L’Eclair. These guys are out of Geneva, Switzerland and recently on the Beyond Beyond Is Beyond label who seem to have the magic touch when plucking these kinds of finds out of thin air (or parts of Europe). The thing is, the BBIB team usually has some deep, out-there, mind-bending psychedelia to offer up. But with L’Eclair’s Polymood, we’ve got something a little bit different, something delectably groovy. The instrumental band’s music is anything but Swiss neutral, but a decidedly funky and totally singular sound. This is can’t-put-it-down, smiling-for-days good, I think you’ll dig.

Masayoshi Takanaka is a Japanese guitarist, composer, and producer. He was born in 1953 in the Shinagawa ward in Tokyo, Japan. Takanaka's music was influential in the city pop genre of the late 1970s and '80s.

Masayoshi Takanaka is a Japanese guitarist, composer, and producer. He was born in 1953 in the Shinagawa ward in Tokyo, Japan. Takanaka's music was influential in the city pop genre of the late 1970s and '80s.

Batiste regularly tours with his band Stay Human, and appears with them nightly as bandleader and musical director on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Batiste also serves as the Music Director of The Atlantic and the Creative Director of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem.

The third of a six album cycle cataloguing The Caretaker’s fictional first person account of life with early onset dementia, presenting some of the last coherent memories before confusion fully rolls in and the grey mists fade away. In this crepuscular, autumnal phase, recollections phosphoresce and wilt in advancing stages of entropic decay, steadily approaching a winter of no return.
Continuing to mirror the progression of dementia, using nostalgia for ballroom as an allegory of the disease, The Caretaker’s musical flow in places becomes more disturbed, isolated, broken and distant. Singular memories, and all their connotations, begin to atrophy and calcify, crumbling away with each rotation of the record - sometimes in curt scene cuts, others in quietly breathtaking reverbed fizzles; like tea lights extinguished, never to flicker again.
These are the last stages of awareness before we enter the post awareness stages, where those memories become completely detached from comprehension. On stage 3, the haunted ballroom's repertoire becomes increasingly muddled, pealing off in recursive contrails from the gestures of Back There Benjamin, to snag on the stylus in starkly reverberant knots on Hidden Seas Buried Deep, or worn down to calloused nubs such as To the minimal great hidden, and Sublime beyond loss, all leading up to some of the project’s most uncanny detachments in Libet Delay and the coruscating brass shimmer of Mournful Cameraderie, which beautifully suggest the mercurial nature of memory and its recollection.

CTI Master Series remastered reissue of 1974 album for the cool jazz alto sax player famous for his association with the Dave Brubeck Quartet features 9 tracks including 2 previously unreleased bonus tracks, 'Skylark' (alt. take) & 'Indian Summer' (alt. take). Originally released in 1974. 2003.
