God is an Astronaut’s seventh full-length album, Origins, is their first as a five-piece and cements their place as one of the world’s most intense, musically and visually-inventive post rock bands. Renowned for their searing live shows in which the music is married with provocative projected imagery, GIAA consider each of their albums to be a sonic ‘photograph or snapshot of who we are in that moment of time’ and Origins is perhaps their most saturated, striking snapshot to date.
Comprising a dozen tracks, Origins fluctuates from controlled ferment (‘Calistoga’) to plaintive, piano-led reverie (‘Autumn Song’) to rhapsodic, unapologetically melodic fever (‘Signal Rays’) while never losing its focus. A wide spectrum of emotions are conjured over the course of the album and, while half of the tracks feature vocals, the voices have been laden with resonant swathes of effects so as to retain a similar ambiguity to the instrumentals. It is this ambiguity that lends Origins its power. The song titles are evocative but never prescriptive: for instance, a southern Californian town is suggested in ‘Calistoga’ while the effect-fogged lyrics speak of finding light in a seemingly hopeless situation. Perseverance in times of emotional hardship appears to be the overriding theme of Origins, though it has always been the juxtaposition of seemingly disparate sounds, words and visuals that afford GIAA their singularity. The listener’s interpretation of the music is as valid as the emotions that inspired the band to make it.

《八匹马》收录了惘闻最近三年内创作的八首作品，每首作品诞生之初所讲述的故事或者情景我几乎都没有了印象，不同于惘闻以往的创作方式，这次新唱片中的很多歌曲在录音过程中都经过了大幅的重新编排，甚至在后期过程中我们也加入了很多新的想法。
《八匹马》的录制过程，充满了趣味。我们第一次放弃了进棚录音的概念，而是把所有的录音设备和乐器音箱都搬进了回声图书馆，一个奇妙的地方。我们花了大概10天左右的时间在这里录音，伴随着不明真相的图书馆读者和楼上的咖啡客，我们像极了一群行为艺术工作者，我们的录音过程像极了一个低级的行为艺术作品。整个录音过程我们并没有清场，图书馆以及楼梯上面的咖啡店都是在正常营业，所以如果你仔细听这张唱片，会听到很多环境声甚至人说话的声音。
后期的混音制作，我们找了四个人混不同的歌曲，他们是Toman的Wouter, PK 14的杨海松，which park的老王以及同我们合作了上张唱片《0.7》的安基国。我们抛弃了所谓专辑歌曲的一致性，因为专辑收录的8首歌对我们自己来说本身也是差异性很大，所以我们决定干脆放大这种差异性。
《八匹马》对于惘闻来言，是一个有意思的尝试， 它也是乐队十五年以来推出的第八张唱片。我们会牵着八匹马穿行各地，带给你们一个奔腾的惘闻现场。

WEG took a very unusual method to compose for this album. First,he
made vocal parts such as verse,bridge and chorus for songs.
After building up the tracks,
WEG deleted all of the vocal parts completely,and continued
destroying,constructing and mating tracks repeatedly until they
became fully developed sounds.

World’s End Girlfriend 堪稱是日本當前最受曯目的電腦軟體音樂家。自2000年在半野喜弘旗下廠牌發行首張專輯後，又被英國Third Ear引荐到歐洲，2002年更受邀參加巴塞隆納全球知名的Sonar音樂節。去年夏天在台北、香港、澳門的巡迴演出讓更多人意識到他獨特的音樂視野。
"The Lie Lay Land"是WEG的最新作品，他再次透過聲音編織出一個龐大複雜的音樂景觀，當中不乏強烈作者風格的戲劇性修飾與拼貼，從流麗的管弦編曲、環境錄音到數十支吉他疊製的強大噪音牆──他還親自往返大阪東京兩地指揮室內樂團作現場錄音──在在建構出高度個人的視覺化音樂語言。從艾米爾．庫斯杜力卡（Emir Kusturica）和楊斯凡克梅耶（Jan Svankmajer）式黑色幽默與荒謬；到拉斯馮提爾（Lars Von Trier）和加士伯奈爾（Gaspar Noe）式執拗與即興，WEG那夢境般的音樂場景穿插著激進的自由爵士、弦樂時而優美彷彿天籟，時而淒厲令人毛骨悚然，典型的後搖秋風掃落葉吉他飆奏導入節拍方正的行進，或抑鬱如送葬進行曲或狂亂如夢魘遊樂場的圓舞曲，生鏽的旋轉木馬失控停不下來而闖入遍地清寥的幽寂......

World's end girlfriend是我最喜欢的日本音乐人，清晰明了的post-rock，不张扬，但却明白的凸显出不同寻常的个性。如同童谣诗人一般充满幻想，但却又带有淡淡的忧伤。

Katsuhiko Maeda(aka World's End Girlfriend)从十岁开始，沉醉於父亲的古典音乐收藏，12岁开始试著用吉他，钢琴，录音机开始作曲，到发行专辑之前，已经累积六百首以上的曲子。首张专辑「Ending Story」(2000)静謐、耽美而梦幻，听起来很有冰岛乐队mum的感觉，而WEG的吉他与弦乐，情感更为浓烈。第二张专辑「Farewell Kingdom」(2001)仍贴近电子音乐， hip hop节奏与拼贴、可爱Nintendo电玩旋律，最大的特色是弦乐与钢琴。近来，受到加拿大后摇滚乐队Godspeed You Black Emperor!影响的成分加深，编制更为壮丽。
World's End Girlfriend是目前备受曯目的日本新生代音乐家。2000年 他在半野喜弘（贾樟柯《站台》配乐者）厂牌发行首张专辑，后在Noble陆续出版Farewell Kingdom 与 Dream's End Come True，成功融合各类型音乐风格并传递出浓烈的悲剧性格与浪漫色彩，从而奠定他在techno、post-rock、avant pop 与electronica乐迷心目中的独特地位 。2002年WEG首度受邀至巴塞隆纳参加全球知名的音乐与多媒体艺术节Sonar。 去年夏天在台北、香港与澳门的三地巡回则让华人听众初次感受他峰回路转、充满电影感的现场演出。
