Mixing ethereal melodies and walls of noise to classic rock structures , the group is an alchemist and reminds us the 90's scene and other sound experiments . Sometimes misty , sometimes radiating , the compositions of the trio distil an emotion that grabs the listener immediately , leaving him no choice but to be swept away in the sonic storm.

France’s Celeste have been busy in the business of uneasy tension. Their third full-length in 3 years, Morte(s) Nee(s) continues in the tried-and-true-tradition of harsh, melancholic, and brooding. In 2010, Celeste reveals themselves to be more than simply a mirror of their French screamo counterparts Sed Non Satiata or Amanda Woodward. A tinge of black metal can certainly be felt here or there, yet Celeste are really a screamo band at heart- and it fully embrace that side on Morte(s) Nee(s). Heavy and dissonant, Celeste craft a distinct aesthetic that's sure to turn away many. The brooding atmosphere gets tiring, sure, but it never feels redundant or overused throughout the album’s 42-minutes.

ÜTOPIYA? not only continues their first album, but it extends it. The travels move this time to Istanbul and Sicily providing the food for its urgent energy and indomitable drive. While the structures still hint at moments of post-rock, they go further now, almost into the area of free-jazz yet without loosing a directness rooted in punk (highlighted perhaps by the presence of G.W.Sok from The Ex). In addition, the bass clarinet of Gareth Davis references both the roughest of experiments of Akosh Szelevényi and of The Stooges Fun House.
There are, so the story goes, sea birds that reveal themselves only at times of approaching storms. This story though, is a little more complicated. For some, the pipers riding the deluge, yet for the mariner the prophets in the lingering final moments of calm. Thus, ultimately, are they the creator or created if the existence
of one requires the other? It is this Mediterranean Sea that OISEAUX-TEMPÊTE chose to roam. In 2013, on a trip to Greece, they returned with an account of the political upheaval and spread of discontent which is now so easy to follow two years later. An album of tension, cinematographic as it rides the storms which it documents. A disc positioned, ultimately, in the statement.
More or less anchored in Paris, OISEAUX-TEMPÊTE is the result of the meeting between Frédéric D. Oberland & Stéphane Pigneul (members of both Farewell Poetry and Le Réveil des Tropiques) and Ben McConnell (Beach House and Marissa Nadler). For ÜTOPIYA?, the group is expanded with the addition of bass clarinet virtuoso Gareth Davis.

With Verses Of Fire, Temple Of Baal are back with a stellar fourth album that combines both their relentless violent face with the darkest atmospheres and most epic riffs of their highly acclaimed last split CD The Vision Of Fading Mankind.
"Verses Of Fire's" sound has been carefully manufactured by Andrew Guillotin in Hybreed Studios. Focusing on a more organic side thanks to the use of tube amps and natural drums, the production allows the natural old-school feeling of the band to shine through the whole album. Through ten tracks, lasting about one hour, the band explores a wide spectre of extreme metal: from raging blast beats and thrashing riffs, though haunted mid tempo vibes, and up to the point of band's primal influence - the sinister sounds of early 90's black/death metal.

After teasing its existence, CocoRosie have titled and announced the release date for the follow-up to their 2013 LP Tales of a GrassWidow. The Casady sisters previously explained in a statement that the album was recorded, written, and "gathered" at their farm studio in the south of France with "minimal equipment, vintage toys and antique instruments.

Cory Arcane is the fifth LP from the French-born, Berlin-based experimental techno producer, real name David Letellier. Like the previous four, including the most recent, Solens Arc, from early 2014, it will come through Raster-Noton. Letellier typically brings a conceptual, cinematic approach and a rebellious spirit to his work, and this one would seem to continue in that vein.
The press release for Cory Arcane comes with an essay from the artist himself, which describes what appears to be the album's titular character. "Cory Arcane found her comfort zone in a constant state of crisis, and her liberation through love, sensuality, and high-speed internet access... Her emancipation was surely marked by different forms of excess: the inappropriate use of fireworks, the consumption of large quantities of alcohol and controlled substances, as well as the occasional blasts of kitchen appliances."

Warp's newest signing, the NYC based vocalist Lafawndah unveils Tan, a four track EP featuring FWD-facing production from one of Night Slugs bosses L-Vis 1990 and ADR (recently seen debuting on PAN) starting on a roll Town Crier blends production akin to Portishead's Third with machine-gun-like snares and militant trap drums rolling to the behest of Lafawndah's on-point vocal delivery. Ally strips back the percussion with some lightly tapping snares with a mid 00's UKF feel before the EP's big number Tan rolls down a bass heavy banger with flourishes of synths adding a solid techno texture before capping off with the (almost) tribal house dub number Crumb. Startling debut for anyone currently caning recent drops by Kelela, Arca or Jlin.
