Pretty much every song Doheny ever recorded or released classifies as a rarity, which means for most listeners Separate Oceans, comprised of 19 songs from Ned Doheny’s three albums from the 1970s, seeded with demos and alternate takes featuring some of his more famous friends will be an introduction into his sun-drenched world.

The week that guitarists Grace Repasky and Maggie Geeslin turned old enough to drive, Lunar Vacation was officially formed.
Repasky and Geeslin met in the eighth grade and began exchanging musical efforts almost immediately, but that blessed autonomy of first cars meant they could conquer Atlanta’s sprawling suburbs and play to their adolescent hearts’ desire. The pair forged a cluster of demos — just enough to fill a set — and took to as many stages as Atlanta could offer them. Local momentum building, they added classmates Matteo DeLurgio on synth and Connor Dowd on drums to sonically match their songs’ increasingly rambunctious spirit.
Upon high school’s end, Lunar Vacation released a pair of well-received EPs, Swell and Artificial Flavors, and landed support runs for the likes of Remo Drive, Sidney Gish, and SALES. The band nabbed infatuated fans across the US while racking up millions of streams on their independently released music. In more than one sense, Lunar Vacation had graduated.
Back in Atlanta, Geeslin was working in a record store (Criminal Records) when Daniel Gleason of the band Grouplove came in. Following a quick connection and hours of conversation, the members of Lunar Vacation felt Gleason could be one to color in the sound they’d been honing live — melodious guitars swirling atop propulsive, often psychedelic rhythm — and capture it in the studio. The band recorded "Unlucky" with Gleason and released it in early 2020, the song drawing attention as “swoon-worthy” from The FADER, “shimmering … wistful, sun-kissed indie-pop” from American Songwriter, and “equal parts Mac DeMarco and Snail Mail” from Paste Magazine. Lunar Vacation continued recording with Gleason in the producer’s chair.
The band released the first song of the batch in June 2021. “Shrug” garnered praise from the likes of Paste, Brooklyn Vegan, Stereogum, Under The Radar, and NYLON who called it “a jangly guitar song with a very shoutable chorus.” Songwriter Repasky shared, “I look back now and realise that this song was a pivotal moment in delving into self-identity and ultimately identifying as a non-binary person." The melody is buoyant though agitated, its guitars warbling like question marks and lyrics ringing distinctly relatable. Lines like "This isn’t how I want to be / I didn't know I could care that much and Invited but I’ll never show / Sit at home playing too much Wilco" cut into a listener’s mind and vibrate there, like thoughts of one’s own. There’s a carefree sense of triumph in Repasky’s refrain: Why don't you just shrug it off?
Lunar Vacation will release their highly anticipated debut album ‘Inside Every Fig Is A Dead Wasp’ via Keeled Scales. Throughout the album, this band boasts a celebratory sound, a reckless sense of ecstasy specific to fluid youth and rock solid friendship. In spite of life’s bits that inspire these songs — some darker than others — Repasky, Geeslin, DeLurgio, and Dowd reliably find the light in the thing. Drawing from early influences like Rilo Kiley and Tame Impala, and landing a little closer to contemporary favourites like Alvvays and Slow Pulp, Lunar Vacation make bright music replete with bliss.

Gabie Strong’s latest album, 'Wilding Sun,' is a distinct addition to Dragon’s Eye Recordings’ catalog, consisting of four arrangements titled after medicinal herbs. The album relationally places the listener in synesthetic herbal wash, translating flavor and fragrance into sound through live improvisations, home recordings, and field recordings. Each composition is healing in its own rite; all flourish together to create a complex, organic whole.
The first track, “Lavender”, is a recording from her most recent performance celebrating the painting exhibition Forest by artist Pamela Jordan at Romer Young Gallery in San Francisco. Both Strong and Jordan share similar movements when manipulating sound and paint, respectively; they both bend, droop, reach, wave, teeter and stretch to manipulate their materials. Strong's guitar improvisation is an homage to the embodied gestures and luscious pigments which comprise Jordan’s Forest.
“Catnip” and “Dandelion” both blend unique self-recorded improvisations and site-specific field recordings made by Strong in 2021. There is simultaneously a compact, domestic intimacy and an expansive sense of unfurling in each... composition.
Finally, “Mugwort” is a lo-fi recording of the artist's charged 2019 performance at “Hell in a Handbag 8: Handbag Factory's 8-Year Anniversary” in Los Angeles. The acoustics alternate between hushed static, salient feedback, and sustained drone.
Much like a garden, Strong’s compositions cultivate a sense of external enclosure—the quality of being both inside and out. The four tracks, like their namesakes, are simultaneously delicate and hearty, remedial and temperamental and graceful; the album itself an apothecary, offering up a holistic transmutation of the senses.

Full of crushing guitar tones, haunting orchestration and lush melodies, "Unmarked Boxes" is an intimate work of doom metal introspection!
In November 2021, DAXMA present their second album “Unmarked Boxes," an intimate work of conscientious introspection inspired by and named for the 13th century Rumi poem. Their last EP, “Ruins Upon Ruins,” wove through bleak atmospherics and monolithic power, and was called "an emotional, darkly delicate and starkly beautiful post-doom record" by Angry Metal Guy.

Lost Tribe Sound presents 'Built Upon a Fearful Void', the new double album from William Ryan Fritch.
'Built Upon a Fearful Void' was an album seemingly fated to never be completed. For the last 8 years the album had been recorded and either lost or discarded three times; a leak that water logged and ruined most of the half dozen tape reels the original album was recorded on, a destroyed and unrecoverable hard drive in 2018 that held the near completed mixes and finally in 2021 voluntarily letting go of what remained of the salvaged material to rerecord the album entirely using only faint flickers of the old tapes and cassettes that held the remnants of the old songs.
It is a two part record—meditating on lost epochs, feeble mythologies, and the many deep gulfs in human knowledge and perception. Each volume taking the listener through their own unique multi-textured explorations of the union and disunion of sonorities for pipe organ, reed instruments, voice, viola da gamba, prepared piano, pedal steel, viola d’amore and banjo.
