A critical rethinking of the categories of politics within a new sociopolitical and historical context, this book builds on the previous work of the distinguished political philosopher Giorgio Agamben to address the status and nature of politics itself. Bringing politics face-to-face with its own failures of consciousness and consequence, Agamben frames his analysis in terms of clear contemporary relevance. He proposes, in his characteristically allusive and intriguing way, a politics of gesture-a politics of means without end.
Among the topics Agamben takes up are the "properly" political paradigms of experience, as well as those generally not viewed as political. He begins by elaborating work on biopower begun by Foucault, returning the natural life of humans to the center of the polis and considering it as the very basis for politics. 本部分選入一九五○年至一九六九年間面世的粵語歌詞一百首，藉此反映這二十年間，香港的粵語歌詞創作的發展軌跡，展現作品風貌以至文學成份。粵語流行歌曲在五、六十年代地位很低，也難以知道那時的歌詞作者會不會要求自己筆下的歌詞創作具文學價值。然而，文字創作多多少少都帶些文學成份。本部分之作品編選，也考慮藝術價值與文獻價值之兼容。
國語歌詞
香港國語流行曲由盛至衰逾二十載，一直緊隨著社會的發展和價值觀的轉變。戰後南來者眾，充滿上海遺風的歌曲主導市場，但同時也有人著重文以載道的寓教於樂歌曲。五十年代中，資本來自不同地區的國語電影和唱片業互相合作，使電影歌曲成為國語流行曲重要的部分。電影公司以紅歌星為歌藝不精但具潛質的影星幕後代唱，歌路以城鄉互動為主。另一些電影公司則以發掘歌影雙棲新星以拓展業務，並為他們創作不少展現青春的歌曲。
